Cuts Funds For Hoover Site By DOROTHY WILLIAMS T-D Correspondent WASHINGTON Hopes for a larger congressional appropriation for acquisition of land at the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site were dashed Thursday when the House a compromise recommendation that appropriates $170,000 for this purpose. President Johnson's budget proposed $470,000 to buy site land at West Branch, but a House Appropriations subcommittee cut it back to $70,000. The Senate voted $470,000 for this item, but in conference with the House this was cut back to $170,000. The Senate will vote on the conference recommendation next week. Rep.

The car driven by Fritsch reportedly failed to heed a stop sign at the intersection of the rural roads, and smashed into the Hansen car, police said.

The bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Fritsch were taken to a Tampico funeral home, where funeral arrangements are pending. Death Notices LEACH SERVICES LYNDON, Ill. Services for Mrs.

Max Leach, 74, formerly of Lyndon, were today in the Gardner Funeral Home, Prophetstown. Mrs. Leach died at Petersburg, Tuesday. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery. DONALD BUTLER IOWA CITY, Iowa Services for Donald Butler, 57, of Iowa City, were today at Jones Memorial Chapel.

Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Mr. Butler died Tuesday at an Iowa City nursing home. He was born July 13, 1909, at Elgin, Ill. He resided in Iowa City six months.

Survivors include his father, Earl Butler, Geneva, and sisters, Mrs. Erwin Miller and Mrs. Juanita Nelson both of Chinook, and Mrs. Jesse James, Brimfield, Ill. WILLIS SERVICES MUSCATINE, Iowa Services for Mrs.

Clinton C. Willis, 81. will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the George M. Wittich Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will begin. Saturday morning. Mrs. Willis died Thursday her home here.

Jessie M. Kopp was born March 22, 1886, at Muscatine. She married Clinton C. Willis. Survivors include: sons, Vernon Muscatine; Richard Los Altos Hills.

John's Catholic Church at Des Moines. Burial was the Oakdale Cemetery at Wilton Junction Griffith Funeral Home, Wilton Junction, was in charge. Christiansen, an employe of Bell Telephone died Tuesday at Des Moines. He was born Jan. 11, 1912, at Wilton Junction.

He married Gretchyn Mellicher at Rock Island. Survivors include a son, Clifford; daughter, Mrs. Clint Keay, Logan, Iowa; brothers, Harvey, Iowa City, and Norman, Pocatello, Idaho; sisters Mrs. Mearl Jennings and Mrs. Martin Mortensen, both of Tipton; Mrs.

Injured fatally, Scott Godwin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Godwin, Collinsville, died at 6:15 p.m. in Burlington Hospital, about one hour after the accident. Linda Yohe, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Phillip Yohe of Wapello, was given seven stitches in the arm by a local doctor to close a cut. Highway Patrolman Lynn Serbousek said the children were riding in a cart along the west side of Highway 61. The Shetland pony turned and ran into the southbound tractor and semi-trailer driven by Warren A. Gieselman, 36, of rural Burlington.

The pony also was killed. Patrolman Serbousek said no charge would be filed. Young Godwin had been visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Godwin.

The Eugene Godwin family had moved from Wapello in the spring 9 of 1966 to Collinsville, Ill. Funeral services for the boy are pending at DudgeonMcCulley Funeral Home, Wapello. Corps, Clinton To Discuss Maintenance Of 2 Islands By JIM BAIRD CLINTON, Iowa Responsibility for maintenance of Joyce and Willow islands in the Mississippi River at Clinton will be discussed Wednesday night at a meeting of the Clinton Board of Park Commissioners.

The park board will host representatives of the Rock Island District, Corps of Engineers, and Clinton County Conservation Board for the three-way talks. Last winter the Clinton Park Board was asked by the corps to report what had been to develop the islands under a long-term lease with nolds, Reno, and three grandchildren. Mr. Bender farmed in Kansas until moving to Washington, where he was employed at Jarvis Appliance Store. Survivors are his wife, daughters, Mrs. Arthur Campbell, Wayland, and Mrs. Olin Jennings, Columbus Junction; a son, Gerald, West Liberty; brothers, Ira and Sam, both of Kalona; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

West Liberty Asks Street Paving Bids WEST LIBERTY, Iowa Bids for street paving projects in West Liberty will be opened by the city council after a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, in the council chambers. Thirty-foot paving is scheduled on Ninth and Tenth Streets from Columbus to Miller Streets, and on Miller Street from Eighth to Tenth Street. Twenty seven foot paving will be installed on Miller Street from Seventh to Eighth Street. Twenty-one-foot paving is plann'1 on Park Street from Eighth Street 463 feet north.

Also, an alley from Spencer to Calhoun between Fourth and Fifth Streets will be paved 16 feet wide. The projects will be partially financed by special assessment bonds. The following street work will be financed by general obligation bonds: Eighth Street from Clark Street to the east line of Phillips Addition, asphaltic paving with concrete curb and gutter.
