i Gas Prices Drop; Cost Up Sunday Prices dropped Friday night In the Davenport-Bettendorf area in the gasoline price "war" which entered its third week today, Major companies reported regular gasoline selling for 21.9 and Ethyl for 23.9. Illinois prices were listed at 22.9 and 21.9. Independents said their pricei today were 20 and 22. Prices Hi jump back Sunday, however, as a one-cent tax in crease in effect tonight will affect this area as well as the rest of the nation. The new taxes are expected to bring in a billion dollars a year for 13 years to pay for the construction program.
