The commission started looking for new Valley quarters last month after complaining that it had several times found the Van Nuys American Legion clubhouse not set up tor meetings amd poorly maintained. Since then the Legion building's board of trustees brought in a new cleaning crew and conditions were reported to be improved. However, after 15 years of part- time tenancy, the commission seemingly wants a change of scene. Members toured four possible locations in Van Nuys, Reseda and North Hollywood and said they found the Van Nuvs Woman's Club most preferable. Planning Director Calvin Hamilton noted that, besides being near the San Fernando Valley Administrative Center, it is well maintained and has good seating and parking.

The City Bureau of Right of Way and Land' must negotiate a lease for use of the building which would have to be approved. The lease with Van Nuys American Legion Post 193 for the Legion hall runs out Jan. 1.
