She passed an examination, college education, as without qualified teacher in 1915, certifi. recetving second grade cate.

She later received elementary certificate. She graduated from Illinois State University In 1953. From 1911- 1922 she taught in rural schools in Ford County. She taught elementary grades in the Gibson City school system until her retirement, Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Gibson City Methodist Church, Lamb Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The Rev.

William Jones officiated. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Alma, Gibson City, with whom made her home; and Mrs. Ella" Schertz, Saybrook; two brothers, Dr. Ralph J.

Garber, Winter Park, and LL Col. Alfred Garber, Tacoma, Wash. A sister preceded her in death, Miss Garber was an active member of the Methodist Church, Woman's Society of Christian Service, and was a Sunday School teacher. She belonged to the Gibson Community Hospital Auditary and the Retired Teachers Association, Pallbearers were Wayne Wheeler, Lynn Schertz, Dayn Schertz, Wally Roth, De Vere Roth and Dary Roth, 1 1967-6A GIBSON CITY COMMUNITY NOVNALOd TO OHIO Mrs. John Kincade and Mrs.

HOME FROM OHIO Mr. and Mrs. H. Gerber returned home from Westerville, Ohio Sunday after visiting there with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs.

William A. Gerber and family. The William Gerbe's were recently new parents 0. a baby girl born June 5. Amy Beth has three older brothers and sisters, Davis, 8, Ann, 6, and Michael, 2, who returned home with their grandparents, A.

H. Gerbers, and will be visiting with them for some time. They will also visit with their other grandparents, the Sypults, in Farmer City. ADOPT BOY Mr. and Mrs.

William Gifford adopted a foster child who had been staying with them since a year May. James William the fourth child the Giffords have adopted. ATTEND WEDDING Mrs. Susan Padgett and Clinton Conrad attended the wedding of Roger Dozier and Elsie Adams in Bloomington Saturday, June 10, at the Church of Chist. VISITING PARENTS Mrs. Donald Clark and children, Debbie and Stephen, of Atlanta, are visiting here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hager. VISIT DAUGHTER Mrs.

Philip Myers visited last week with their daughter and Ily, Mrs. Phyllis Claycamp and family of Evansville, Ind. Mr. Myers spent the weekend there and then he and his wife returned home Sunday accompanied by their grandchildren, Lyn and Buddy, ho will spend the remainder of the summer here. A. L. Potts, left Monday morning for Davenport, lowa to visit with friends there. They will return to Gibson Tuesday evening and leave again Wednesday evening for Chicago where they are to spend several days with his parents. They are to fly home to Calif, sometime Friday.

TO BLOOMINGTON Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Retter accompanied their daughter, Delora Lynn, and Judy Main to Bloomington Sunday evening where the two girls twirled batons for the band concert at Miller Park, VISITING FRIENDS Ruth Broaddus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Broaddus, returned to Palos Heights, Chicago, with friends of the family last weekend.

and Mrs. Barry Pillinger, took a vacation trip on a freighter to Jamaica, West Indies. Mrs. Pillinger is the for mer Nancy Barrow, a 1953 graduate of the University of Illinois. She majored in speech therapy.

and Mrs. Phil Newport and family of East Peoria. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Humphrey, who were recently married, have moved to the Dick Thompson property across from the grade school.

Mrs. Alice Conley, St. Petersburg, departed for her home Sunday afternoon following a week's visit at the home of her sister, Mrs. Stella Smith, and other relatives. She also visited with ber daughter, Margaret, at Fairbury, and her brother, Fred Wagner, who was a patient at the Mercy Hospital, Urbana, Mrs.

Conley will be remembered as the former Alice Wagner Okey. Other visitors in the Smith home Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Smith and da ughters, Mrs. Eunice Jones and Judy of Gibson City, and Mr.

and Mrs. Jack Johnson and Timmy. Fred "Dutch" Wagner, who has been bospitalized several weeks at the Mercy Hospital, Urbana, was expected to be released Wednesday of this week. The South Dix Homemakers Extension Unit will meet Monday, June 19, at 1:30 p.m, at the home of Mrs. Grotis McGuire.
