JiaCTiinmnuMua OURNAL he would come down when it started raining, but he would not. The Garners who live in the city said people called on the fire department to get cats down from trees, so after sunrise service Hank Watkins, fire chief of Shiloh Fire Department came over, called another volunteer, Jody Garrard, to bring the ladder truck, my son Danny came down and climbed the ladder to fetch the kitten down. Thanks to all three gentlemen. Gidget and Danny Mills held their annual Easter lunch at their home for both sides of their family. Can't name all forty-five who attended nor all the good food laid out, but it was greatly enjoyed by Eaves, Charltons, Mills and their extended family members.

An Easter egg hunt was enjoyed by the children and young at heart after lunch. Jackie Horton (Mrs. Dwight received a kidney transplant on Tuesday of this week in Birmingham. Jackie's sister donated a kidney to her sibling. According to reports, the match was so perfect that no medication will have to be taken for rejection.

Jean Ford and her daughter, Wanda Romedy, of Nashville drove to Birmingham to be with Dwight and family during the kidney transplant. Other family members were also present that are not known by the writer. Mrs. Ann Romedy was taken to WMC from Wal-Mart on Sunday morning by ambulance after suffering what seemed to be a mini-stroke. Ann works at Wal-Mart as a greeter and in other capacities.

She will be off work until she sees a neurologist at the end of April, the soonest she could get an appointment. Get your tickets at the library and tour all five gardens that will be open from 12:00 until 4:00 on Saturday, April 9th. The $5.00 fee for seeing all five gardens will benefit Friends of the Library. Gardens on tour include; Teresa and Jim Ktsanes, Billy and Peggy Baker, Millard and Dot Depriest, Melba Metts Pearson and Carolyn Hisaw. Tickets will also be available at each of the fund for educating pastors from Winston County who wish to upgrade their education.

All Methodist churches in the county collect this offering on Easter Sunday, annually. An eleven o.clock service was held at Center Ridge, Easter, with a program of Easter music by Brice and Nancy Dempsey. They told the story in song and it was much enjoyed and appreciated by those who attended. Bro. Ron and Ann went on to Rural Hill for their Easter service which was well attended.

Everett and Ida Garner of Mobile spent the weekend here and attended both the service at Pleasant Hill and Center Ridge. The Garners are parents of the late Alice Mills and grandparents of Justin Lane Mills, also my grandson, both of whom are laid to rest in Center Ridge Cemetery This writer attended both services, also, but in between called the Shiloh Fire Department to come and rescue my kitty. A dog ran him up a tall pine tree on Saturday and no way could we call him down. Everyone thought The Main Street design committee is up in arms that shrubs around the courthouse are being removed. Garden club members have been alerted to attend a board of supervisors meeting to demand the reason.

Not all garden club members worked at putting in the shrubs, but those who did will hope there is a good reason for them being removed. All the supervisors have been on the coast attending a meeting part of this week. Got a call from grandson, Dallas, Easter Sunday. Good to hear his voice, even though it was on the answering machine. He called from Iraq and a machine in Mississippi takes the message.

It is mind boggling to me, the technology this age enjoys. Haven't been anywhere much this week, so do not have much news to pass on to you. The price of gas may keep me home more. At least it was dry enough to work out my potatoes that had finally come up. Not dry enough to plant my beans which have always been planted on Good Friday.

The pavilion has been taken down and a new addition to the church has begun. As most of you know, it was raining and muddy, so other arrangements had to be made. Bro. Ron Thomas brought an inspiring message, using colored jelly beans, red to represent the blood that was shed, white representing the purity of Christ, black representing sin and etc. Tracy McCully sang a beautiful special.

The congregation sang several selections that were based on scripture. An offering of thirty pieces of silver was received by Michael and Stewart Ingram. The offering will be applied to a scholarship Obituaries Continued from 3A Burial followed in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
