Gerdes presented the following reports on petitions, which on his motion were adopted: Favorable report on petition from Vincent Ncu for two approaches on Iowa street side of garage at northwest corner of Fourth and Iowa streets, the north edge of north approach to be not less than three feet from north property line, and provided approved liability insurance is filed. Favorable report from Chicago, Rock Island Pacific Railroad Co. for constructing footings in the alleys between Ripley and Harrison streets" and between Fourth and Fifth streets, provided the railroad company makes proper arrangements with Schwind-Hoker, for access to Ripley street durnig construction period.

Favorable report on petition from the Iowa-Illinois Gas Electric Co. for easement to permit installation of power line under railroad tracks south of River street, subject to the reservation of the rights of the city for streets, storm service and sanitary sewer purposes. Aid. Gerdes presented an estimate for $3,263.17 and another for $846.37 due to Romine, Sindt Snow, which on his motion were allowed and ordered paid. Aid.

Gerdes presented the following resolutions which on his motion were adopted: No. 12.530 Resolved, by the City Council of the City of Davenport: That Resolution No 12.163 passed and approved May 18. 1949. be and the same is hereby rescinded. Passed this 16th day of November, 1919.

Petersen presented a petition from Lee Schneider asking for water service-extension in Belle avenue to a point 500 feet north of Lombard street, which on his motion was ordered received and filed. Sewer Committee Aid. Petersen presented the following reports on petitions, which on his moflon were adopted: From E. A. Underwood petition asking for permission to connect a sanitary sewer line to sewer in Crestline drive.

Received and filed. From William C. Givens petition asking permission to build a public sewer privately along Kim-berly road from Kimberly Acres to connect with existing sewer in Brady street. Favorable report, subject to approval of plans provided by others, and also sewer becomes property of city. Aid.

Petersen presented" an estimate for $52.50 due to Midwest Engineering which on his motion was allowed and ordered paid. Aid. Petersen presented the following resolution which on his motion, and by unanimous consent on roll call, was placed on passage and adopted on roll call: No. 12,51 WHEREAS, the Superintendent of Construction has caused to be filed with the City Clerk a plat and schedule of the sewer in Mound St. from lfith St.

to 150 ft. South of Locust in the City of Davenport, as required by the laws of the State of Iowa and the ordinances of the City of Davenport, showing the total cost of said sewer and orso the several lots or specified portions thereof or land abutting upon and adjacent to said sewer liable to be assessed for such improvement, and the amount to be assessed upon such lots or specified portions thereof, or lands, in proportion to the special benefits accruing to each lot or parcel of real estate abutting upon and adjacent to said portion of said improvement, therefore. BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Davenport, Iowa, that said improvement be and is hereby accepted: and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said plat and schedule so filed with the City Clerk be and they are hereby declared correct and approved, and adopted by this City Council as the plat showing the amounts to be assessed against the separate lots or portions thereof, or land subject to assessment for said improvement: and EE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Davenport hereby ascertains and determines the total cost of said improvement to be One Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-seven and 00100 Dollars and that of said amount the sum of One Thousand Four Hundred Eighty-seven and 00100 Dollars is assessable on abutting and adjacent property; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be and is hereby instructed to give, prior to the next regular meeting of the City Council, ten days' notice that said plat and schedule are on file in his office in this City for the inspection of any person or company interested therein, and that any such person or company having any objection to the same or to the tax proposed to be assessed as show thereby, shall file with said Clerk his or their objections in writing, at or before the meeting of the City Council, which will be held Wednesday, December 7, 1949, commencing at 7:30 o'clock p. of said day; and that the City Council at such meeting will hear and decide upon all objections so filed, if any; winch nolice shall be published three times in a newspaper as required by law, and said meeting is hereby fixed as the time when all such objections ill be heard and decided by the City Council. HASS. City Clerk Roll call on the adoption of the foregoing resolution was as follows: Yeas Geertz, Gerdes, Goodwin, Jepsen, Johnson, Lorenzen, Petersen 7. Nays None, Taving Committee Aid. Gerdes presented estimates for $1,300.69 due to Phelan Construction $778.62 due to Midwest Engineering and $387.46 due to Central Engineering which on his motion were allowed and ordered paid. Aid.

Gerdes presented the following resolutions levying tax for alley improvements: Alleys between Berg Place and Rusholme street and from Myrtle street to Frances Place. Amount of tax: $2,956.32. Alley between Gaines street and Western avenue from Gaines street to Rusholme street. Amount of tax: $2,515.18. Aid.

Gerdes presented the following resolutions of acceptance of alley paving and setting the amount of tax for the improvements, with the hearing being set for 7:30 p. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 1949, in the council chamber of the city hall: Alleys between Brown street and Gaines street and between Ninth street and Eleventh street. Amount of tax: $4,170.33. Alley between Brown street and Gaines street from High street to Lombard street.

Amount of tax' $3,675.91. Alleys between Fillmore street and Marquette street and between Pleasant street and High street. Amount of tax: $4,37101. Alley between High street and Lombard street from the east curb line of Fillmore street to the west line of the alley west of Marquette street. Amount of tax: $3,187.13.

Alley between Glen Place ana Armil Place from the north ine of Rusholme street to the south line of Central Park, avenue Amount of tax: $4,53 7,41. Alley between Jefferson avenue and Grand avenue and between Thirtieth street and Thirty-second street. Amount of tax: $3,574.55. Alley between Bridge avenue and College avenue from Central Park avenue to Garfield street Amount of tax: $5,358.22. Alley between Elm street and Lombard street from Belle ienue to Jersev Ridge road.

Amount ot tax: $4,915.50. Roll call on the adoption of each drawn on C. F. Schmidt, City Treasurer. In favor of himself in the sum of $63.41 to be applied on the interest of the special assessments levied and assessed against the following described real estate and Zenith Corporation, as owner thereof, for the paving of Twenty-ninth Street, to-wit: Lot 14.

Oak Heighls Addition, $40.02. Tract of real estate described as beginning lit a point which is 20 feet South and 211(1 feet East from the Northwest corner of the Southeast quarter of the Northeast quarter of Section 24, Township 711 North, Range 3 East of the 511) P. running thence South 153 75 feci; thence East 50 feet; thence North 118 75 feet to the South line of 29th Street; thence West along South line of 29th Street 50 feet to point of beginning, $23.39. Nov. 15, 1943 The council met in committee-of-the-whole at 3 p. with Mayor Kroppach in the chair and all of the aldermen present. Capt. A.

H. Lovett presented a petition asking for permission to extend a one-wire aerial across East Thirteenth street, west of Arlington avenue, and it was referred to the street committee and city attorney. Public hearings were held on four rezoning petitions and the following action taken on recommendation of the ordinance committee: Adverse report to change area at southwest corner of Fourteenth and Brady streets from multiple dwelling district to commercial. Adverse report to change area at northeast corner of Eighteenth and Brady streets from multiple dwell-" lng district to commercial. Adverse report to change area on Orchard avenue, between Harbor road and Garden avenue from single family district to local business.

Favorable report to change areas at four corners of Seventh and Fillmore streets from two-family district to local business. Attorney James Lamb appeared before the council relative to an ordinance relocating Sturdevant street, south of West River street, and the matter was referred to the legal department. Aid. Gerdes for the street committee submitted reports on two petitions and offered one resolution and a final estimate for the LeClaiie park off-street parking project. He also presented several resolutions from the paving corn-; mittee.

Aid. Fell made a motion that action be taken toward repairing Rock Island Lines railroad crossings and recommended that if the city has authority the repair work be undertaken and the cost assessed against the railroad. The matter was referred to the legal department. Several transfers and renewals of beer licenses were offerpd by Aid. Geertz for the police and license committee, and for the light committee, be presented resolutions for installation of two street lights.

Reports on two petitions for sewers Were presented by Aid. Petersen and he also offered a resolution for acceptance of a sewer. Five resolutions from the finance committee were suhnutted by Aid. Lor-. enzen, and two from the airport com-." mittee.

Aid. Goodwin reported on six ordinances from the ordinance committee, and Aid. Johnson of the fire eommit-. tee presented a report on opening of bids for a building to house a new heating plant at Central fire station. On motion of Aid.
