KM Sludlo photo Community service Is becoming an important "outside activity" for students training for paramedical occupations at the Bryman School in Canoga Park. As they prepare for careers in the health care field, girls attending the school at 20835 Sherman Way are becoming aware of one thing they have in common, a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the well being of their fellowman.

And that meaningful contribution to society is coming sooner for the girls than they expected even before they complete their training and actually enter into the medical field. This innovative activity, began at the Bryman School earlier this year at the suggestion of several students who sought spec i al programs whereby they could volunteer their time and services for worthwhile causes outside of regular class sessions. The first major community effort was participation in the Easter Seal Telethon in April to benefit the annual Easter Seal fund appeal. Then, during the American Cancer Society drive i a a ny girls marched door-to-door with collection containers In hand seeking funds in residential, business and commercial areas. Another project many of the students took part in was a bike-a-thon to raise funds for the Diabetes Assn.

They now are looking more and more toward meaningful service such as working directly with people and assisting in various health testing programs, according to Howard Winakur, school director. One volunteer project being planned will be ser- Group to Hear Guest Speaker Richard II worln traveler, will be guest speaker when members of Valley Business and Professional Chapter of City of Hope meet tomorrow at 8::50 p.m. at Great Western Savings and Loan, Van Xuys Van Nuys. Volunteers are being recruited through the Los Angeles Chapter of the American National Bryman Schools will furnish 75 volunteers to assist in a variety of ways. Also planned for a later date, and possibly to continue on an ongoing basis, will be participation in the Cross bloodmobile projects. Most of Los Angeles County non-profit health care agencies have been contacted, and arrangements are being finalized with several for volunteer participation in a variety of programs coming up later this year.

Mr. Winakur noted. The Bryman School is part of the nation's largest network of private schools specialising exclusively in health care training. Students attending receive training as medical assistants, medical office administrators and dental assistants.
