Idaho. Margaret Herrick. former executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, died Sunday at the Motion and Tele- vi-ion Country House ir. Woodland Kills after a long illness Mrs. Herrick had been executive director of the Academy for 27 years before retiring in January.

1971. for reasons of health. She began her career with the academy in 1931. starting as the executive director in 1943. Born in Spokane, Mrs.

Herrick attended the University of becoming head librarian of the Yakima public following graduation From there she eu to Hollywood and went to work for the Academy The academy's horary is named in her honor and 1971. following her retirement, she was named director emeritus.
