ended his 16 year career on the cinders Dawson came back to the Uni versity of Oklahoma scene of his collegiate triumphs today to visit his former coach John Jacobs and other old friends Since his grad uation in 1932 he has participated under the banner of the Tulsa Athletic club He announced he had sent his spikes back to his farm home at Skiatook Okla for good He has determined to leave the Dawson started his track career 16 years ago in grade school at Skiatook In high school he set a record of 4 minutes 31 seconds in a meet at Stillwater which still stands as the state interscholas tic mile mark He entered the University of Oklahoma in 1929 was Big Six conference indoor mile and two mile champion in 1930 and 1931 and outdoor mile champ in 1930 He also annexed the national A A 1000 meter championship in 1933 and 1934 In his senior year he turned to the steeplechase He participated in the Olympic games of 1932 and 1936 as a member of the 3000 meter steeplechase team Dawson has
