6 KI.KCTION WILL HAVE TO TWO Oil TllltKK OK TUB COU.Vl'V OFFICES. IMS CII! Race Cloie for County Attornur mnd County Lend. "lor UeturnH. THE GALVESTOH DAILY NEWS, JULY l.OCO At 1 o'clock this mornlnR full returns had been mudo from nil of tho city precincts, except the Seventh Ward, where the count had not'been completed. Tho Third reported early, but a discrepancy of four voles necessitated a recount of "the ballots cast, and the returns shown here Include these four'vo'tes.

A partial report was received from, the Seventh Ward, giving tho count of about KO ballots out of a total of 276 cast. Tho following report Includes full returns from all wards, except the Seventh, for all offices except that of Representative; tho returns for this ofllce also include eight county precincis outside the city. Tbe law requires that candidates must receive a majority of the votes cast for that particular office before he shall be declared elected. Under this provision of the law a Klanco at the reurns will show that a sec- nu primary election will have to be held to decide two or three of the offices. In some instances full returns from tho outlv- ing county precincts and.from the Seventh Ward may decide results, but It Is quite certain two or of the offices will have to be dec ded by a second primary election.

In the city there are 3,604 qualified voters which, of course, include Republicans and ''Pij 6 caring to pledge themselves to eolld Democracy. There were about 1 MO votes cast in the city, which Is not quite S3 Jier cent of the voting strength of the city It would appear from the returns ao far reported that Harris has been electedI Rro- roEentativo, but that and Coll would have to enter the second primary; unless late returns glva one or the other the requisite majority. Thon leads hi the race for Sheriff-with a safe majority, with county pre- y'oles to swe Perretfa totals a few more sift?" for County Attorney it Is bets een bclby and Crowley, and no doubt 5Sy Sht ut ln a second For County Treasurer, the present in- ciimnent, A. J. Compton, leads, but not wirh a safe majority, anothis would seem Indicate that ha and Menard will have to enter the second primary.
