Morning Democrat Wed Feb. 27,1957 ii day for Chicago Atty. Daniel D. Carmcll, who faces a "white slavery" charge, after the U. S.

Circuit Court of Appeals in St. Louis ordered his case be heard in Chicago rather than Davenport. The prominent Chicago attorney is accused of transporting a 19-year-old Davenport woman to Chicago in 1955 for purposes of; "prostitution and debauchery." Carmcll's trial was originally slated to begin in Davenport earlier this month. Judge Henry N. Graven, Des Moines, had previously denied two attempts by Carmell to have the trial site changed.

His attorney, Carl Lambach of Davenport, argued before the cir-, cuit court that the majority of defense witnesses live in Chicago. These are expected to include 18 general witnesses and six judges who are expected to be character witnesses. Lambach said Carmell should be tried where his reputation for truth and veracity is well known and where the alleged violation took place. A federal grand jury in Davenport last fall returned the indictment against Carmell. The VHF outlets Nos. 2 through 13 were created in 1941 and became the established service before the UHF channels 14 through 83 were set up up in 1952 to take care of TV's rapid expansion.
