Palm Sunday Ushers in Most Solemn Week of Year With Special Services Palm Sunday, Ihe introduction to the most solemn week of tbe church year, will be observed locally with special rites. There wil! be the traditional blessing and distribution of palms. For the days to follow during Holy Week, including Spy Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday end Holy Saturday, The News will in Galveston churches in the Sunday issue. Announcement of Roman Catholic Palm Blessings The asnuEl tradition of receiving Messed palms, in remembrance of Christ's reception in Jerusalem with the strewing of palms in His path, will be commemorated in Roman Catholic churches of the city. Pastors have announced plans as follows.

At St. Mary's Cathedral palms will be blessed before the 9:30 a.m. Mass Sunday and will be distributed following this Mass and those at 11 a.m. and at 12 noon. Sacred Heart Church has scheduled the blessing of palms prior to the 8 a.m.

Mass, with reception of them after the Masses at 8, 9:15 and 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon, and again after the 7:30 p.m. Sunday service of Rosary, sermon and Benediction of tbe Blessed Sacrament. For ihe tra' ditlonal procession of the palm rite the Schola Cantorum, boys' choir, will sing the psalms. At St.

Joseph's Church, palms will be blessed Sunday prior to the 8 a.m. Mass and will be distributed following the service. The Holy Rosary Church congregation will have the palm- blessing before the 6:30 a.m. Mass Sunday and the distribution following this Mass and the one 9 a.m. Members of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church will receive the blessed palms following the 6:30 a.m.

Mass Sunday, before which the blessing is srt, and again following the 8, 10, and 11 a.m. and 12 noon Misses. St Patrick's Church will have the blessing of palms it 10:30 a.m. Sunday. They will be distributed after the 11 a.m.

and the 12:10 p.m. Misses, and again at the 5 p.m. Lenten devotions. Trinity Episcopal Confirmation Palm Sunday Is a day of special significance at Trinity Episcopal Church. The rite of Confirmation ii lo be administered at 11 a.m.

Mr. Miller has served churches in Illinois, Oklahoma and Texas, lie was associate paslor of the First Christian Church, Oklahoma City, under the late Rev. Bill Alexander, well-known Disciple leader.

His most recent pastorate in Oklahoma was in Ada, where he served the First Christian Church for several years. Mr. Miller has been active in youth work, giving special attention to high school and college age youth. He Wor'd War 11. Methodist Lrusaae To End Sunday The Rev.
