Rubin, who checked out the premises after a call from The Miami News, said residents of the house were given immediate notice to either fasten or remove the latches of the refrigerator so that a child could not be trapped inside. Rubin said the appliances were being repaired at the house. The two violations he cited were operating a commercial enterprise in a residential area and maintaining a "nuisance-type" eyesore. Rubin ordered removal of the appliances and said he would alert the Miami Zoning Division. Got an Eyesore in your neighborhood? The change has been urged by Police Chief Bernard Garmier for some time, Paulk added. Police officials, Paulk said, feel more time is needed to evaluate a rookie police officer. The proposed rule change regarding pregnant employes, Paul said, came after a recent review of federal equal employment opportunity guidelines.
