She was a master gardener and a collocfor of hats.

A fun treat was her recital of an the presidents of the United States and numerous poems, from Shakespeare to "A Had An Apple." Her grandchildren, Mitchell, age 8, and Jordan, age 7, also named the presidents to her great delight. She traveled extensively, covering most of the United States and Canada, Europe, Japan, and the Far East. Her last trip was to Big Bend in February of 1997 where she enjoyed the rafting trip. We win miss Jewel but forever remember her tremendous contributions to her family, church, community and ccxjntry. She Is rnerrxxtal-ized In the Corps of Cadets Plaza at Texas University.

Box 191, Comanche, Texas, 76442. also was a member of the San Antonio Conservation So-ciery. Mr. Jones passed away very suddenly In March 1963. She subsequently married Montgomery Blackwell "SonnyM Noelke Sr.

of Mert-zon, Texas, December 1965. They resided contentedry at their ranch home outside of Mertzon until Mr. Noelke's unexpected death in 1968. She remained there until 1992. when she moved bock to Fort Stockton to live with her younger brother Joseph Elijah Moore and his lifetime companion Cruz Quinteta.

Mrs. Noelke was an enthusiastic traveler, visiting family members and friends regularly throughout Texas and New Mexico, as well as traveling In Mexico. Europe and the Far East. Mrs. Noelke "Mrfa" is survived by her beloved brother.

Little Joe; her daughters. Dr. Sally Virginia Jones Andrade of El Paso and Amanda Moore Krejci of Sterfing City; her sons-in-law, Erasmo Andrade and Ronnie Krejci. She also Is survived by four grandchildren: Marisa Virginia Andrade, Carlos Antonio Andrade, Dan Alan Jenkins and Katrlna Virginia Krejci; great-grandson, Lucas Wifliam Andrade; nephew, Joe Page Moore of AJamogordo, N.M.; and niece. Mary Virginia "Muff' London of Ptainview.

COMANCHE Jewell-Dukes Huddleston died on Thursday, April 24, 1997.

at the age of 85. She was born at Shady Grove Farm near Dust- er, Texas, oo Feb. 22, 1 91 2, the third of four daughters and three sons bom to Ufburn and Minnie Dukes. She attended school In Duster. In 1927, she was married to Acle Ray Hud-; dlestdn and shortly thereafter moved to Iraan, Texas, where they became part of the first oil field families housed In tents In the Yates Oil Field In County, Texas.

Jewell and Acle had three sons, Kenneth (now deceased) Gerald of Navasota and Billy Pete and wife, Flos of Houston. Her three sons and three grandchildren atteneded Texas University. Jewell Is survived by sisters. Hope Joiner of Gorman, Amber Craddock and Hazel Roberts of Comanche; and brothers, W.D. Dukes and wife.

Ulala of Hide- away Lake Tyler, and Herman Dukes and wife. Jill of Sidney. She was preceded In death by her husband, Acle and her brother, Lynwood. She Is also survived by her 1 grandchildren, Peter Huddleston and wife, Kathy, Paul Huddleston and wife. Dorl, and Lisa Huddleston Currie and Husband, Peter; and be- loved great-grandchildren.

Mitchell and Jordan Currie, Will and Katherlne Huddleston, and Emiy and Joseph Huddleston, all 'of Houston. She established a remarkable career of journalism following the completion of correspondence courses. Jewell was the primary writer for the Iraan News from 1948 to 1963 and served as a field correspondent for the Odessa American and the San An-gelo Standard Times during this period. She and Acie moved to Comanche, Texas, in 1963. Except fa some poetry and.

an occasional article, she took a holiday from writing until age 65. On March 10, 1977, she began writing a weekly column, "Wagon Wheels" for the Comanche Chief. By age 85, she had written about 1,000 articles, with her last one written on April 8, 1997. Jewell was honored to be named "Comanche Woman of the Year" Nancy Moore Noelke FORT STOCKTON Nancy Virginia Moore Jones Noelke passed 'from this life a few minutes past midnight. April 25.1997.

She was bom Feb. 9, 1913. in Pecos. Texas, to Dr. William Harris Moore and Virginia Her-ren Moore.

She moved to Fort Stockton with her family In 1917 at the age of 5. Mrs. Noelke attended St. Joseph School there and graduated from Fort Stockton High School 1928, where she played on the basketball team. She was also a gifted pianist and singer and gave numerous recitals.

She also played in the high school swing band with good friends such as Jimmy Rooney. Mrs. Noelke attended Our Lady of the Lake College in San Antonio before transferring to and graduating from the University of Texas at Austin. As a Longhom. she was a member of Delta Delta Delta and performed with the university's Operetta Club.

After teaching piano and public school for several years, she married Fred William Jones Jr. of Carrizoso, N.M. They lived many happy years in Fort Stockton, operating the Fred Jones Insurance Agency. Mrs. Noelke was an active member of St.

Agnes Parish, playing the organ there for many years. She was the first woman elected to the board of directors of the Fort Stock- ton Chamber of Commerce. She took special pride In the role of the Fort Stockton Pilot Club under her presidency when Its members led the fund raising for a new shingle roof on the Annie Rlggs during the 1950s. In addition, Mrs. Noelke served as the president of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, and she was an active supporter and board member of the Fort Stockton Water Carnival.

STANTON James Melvin Robinson, 83, a retired Forest Oil employee, died Thursday, April 24, 1997, in Odessa. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Stanton Church of Christ. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Arrangements by Gil-breath Funeral Home of Stanton.

He was born in Energy, Texas, and was a resident, of Stanton before moving to Odessa and then Breckenridge. 40, passed away Saturday, April 26. 1997. in Corpus Texas. Dan attended Gardendale Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a graduate of Permian High School In Odessa, Texas, and played proudly on the Permian football team for four yeas before graduating in 1974.

Dan was employed by Permian Tank and Manufacturing Odessa. Texas, and he coached the Oso Pony Pinto League (White Soxs Team) in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is preceded in death by his mother. Lois Kelly. He is survived by his loving wife of 1 3 years, Caren Kelly; one son, Lucas "Luke" Robert Kelly; and one daughter, Grace Aryn Kelly, all of Corpus Christi, Texas; his father, Bob and his wife.

Kathleen Kelly; and one brother, Ted Kelly, all of Houston, Texas; and one sister, Karen Kelly of day, six hours after his escape. Petrusaitis said Garcia had been denied permission to attend the funeral because there weren't enough officers to provide an escort. Garcia had been in jail for several weeks in connection with an aggravated robbery, the sheriff said. Petrusaitis said he probably will not seek escape charges against Garcia. Uoyd Mack McCowen ODESSA Uoyd Mack McCowen, 78, died Friday, April 25.

1 997. at his home in Odessa. He was born April 9, 1919, In Cross Plains, Tnxas, and moved to Odessa In 1947 with his wife, Doris. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps. He was employed by Amoco Production for 37 years and retired as a field foreman.

He was a longtime member of Crescent Park Church of Christ and avid Permian football fan and booster club member. Lloyd was a very beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His family always came first and he will be missed very much by everyone close to Nm.
