Good sound CONCERT By EDWARD IRELAND HANDEL Far and away the beet of the current rash of "Messiah" recordings is that of Sir Thomas Beechara with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, just Issued by RCA-Victor in its new de luxe Soria series (LD-LDS 6409). Soloists are Jennifer Vyvyan, Monica Sinclair, Jon VU-kers and Giorgio TozzL The first seven sides of this superb recording include all the music Sir Thomas customarily conducts in a concert performance of the oratorio. The eighth side is given over to an "Appendix," which contains those verses Sir Thomas believes slow down the continuity of the work. The album comes handsomely boxed with a 24-page booklet illustrated in full color. RICHARD STRAUSS -r An exciting new edition to "Der Rosenkavalier" has Just been released by Decca in either monophonic (DGM 301) or stereophonic (DGSR 7301) sound.

The cast includes Marianne Schech, Irmgard See-fried, Rita Streich, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Gerhard linger, Rudolf FrancI and Al brecht Peter.
