Roger! Sloan, of Winston Salem; Mrs. Waldo Weaver, of Olin. His widow by second marriage, who was Mrs. Elizabeth Fink, of Kannapolis, also survive. Other surviving: relatives include three sisters, M.

C. Ijames, Mocksville; Mrs. Sallie Powell Richardson, Rutherford College; Mrs. W. C.

Hinshaw, of Pennsylvania; two brothers, Messrs. Ellis Powell, of Lewiston, Idaho; and Frank Powell, of Cooleemee. The deceased' was at member of New Hope Baptist church. The funeral was held at Rocky Spring Baptist church Thursday morning, conducted by the pastor, Rov. J.

N. Binkley. Interment was in the church cemetery where other memberg of the family are buried. Aowers were carried by Miss Nannic Powell, Mrs. Sam Tomlin, Mrs.

0. C. Towel, Misses Evelyn Towel, Sarah Francis Weaver, Bobby Jane Tomlin, Helen Towel and, Edith Powell. The pallbearers were Mesers. R.

7. The Philathea class of Harmony Baptist, church held birthday Monday evening, celebrating the first birthday of the organization of the class. The party was held at the home of the teacher, Mrs. T. H.

Stafford, the guests included the officers of church and Sunday school and the teachers of the Sunday school classes the church with their wives and kusbands. The class prograr: wAg a stuay of Moses and was diseussed by the members of the class. In addition to the class members, about 36 guests were present.
