Long, theater-owner of Cadiz, resume testimony 'today In federal court ai first witness for the prosecution in the government's anti-trust tuit York, Maryland, Virginia, Ken tucky and Ohio. The trial, long delayed opened yesterday with introductory re- to reestablish competition in Schine towns. "We Intend to show," he said, "that small operators were not permitted to compete in the licensing of films, and that they had three alternative: to go out of business, sell out to Schine, or show product that Schine had first or rejected." McKay contended the case wag having the effect of "an attempt to ruin private enterprise. Long, in testifying, aid he had encountered "extreme dificulty" in obtaining first-run production for a theater he formerly operated at Mt. Vernon, O.

Film distributors, he tald, in Columbus, Cleveland and New York told him first-run productions had been sold to the Schine theater and were not available to him. He also testified that one Schine theater in Mt. Vernon re duced its admission price from 35 cents to IS cents from 1934 to 1940 but increased them to 20 cents after he closed hi theater. He added that in 1937 two Schine representatives had approached him with "propositions" that he sell his theater to Schine, telling him that otherwise "we're going to have to build a new theater." The government complaint, filed Aug. 7.

1939, asks that the chain be restrained from acquiring any more theaters and that the "contracts, combinations and conspiracies in restraint of trade and commerce practiced by the defendant be declared illegal and violative of the Sherman antitrust act." 11 JTT VVflt liOtlnC uuuua Cool jtffolX 'flff -ret- I Serving the bridegroom a best against hcnine i neaiers, wa Aviation Cadet Marion! erator of 160 theater in New Local Fur Storagc--Lu rye's mltd 41 lut to bt bim rich, -T Bonnet.
