The mention of Admiral Dewey, who is the son of Bingen and Nancy Hanks, reminds Davenporters of a fast-gaited gelding of the same name, who flourished here two or three years ago and was the fastest horse in the vicinity.

He was the property of M. J. Eagal, who sold him to Lawyer Cooper of Wichita, Kans. His present owner, who has withdrawn him from the track and uses him only as a driving horse, is reputed to think the world of him. 1251, Bankers Union of the World has voted to disband because, as the report goes, they refuse to continue to be affiliated wtth the organization with Dr. Spinney at the head. A well known lodge man when seen this morning by a Times reporter in regard to the truth of this report, stated that he did not know whether or not the reported action had been taken by Humboldt lodge, but, if it had been It was very evident that the members of the lodge had been listening to the crowd of "knockers" which is said to be at work with their hammers on Dr. Spinney, the head of the Bankers Union of the World. Spinney," said the lodge man, "are largely the work of persons who have become incensed against Dr. Spinney because he has made more success in building up the order than they could in their own order and has no doubt secured smaller lodges which these persons themselves hoped to get. P. A. held a special meeting Saturday evening at Columbian hall, Davenport, for the purpose of taking action on the proposal to get out a souvenir of the three cities for free distribution at the1 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis.

The plan submitted was to have an attractive illustrated souvenir setting forth the commercial advantages of Davenport, Rock Island and Moline, and calling attention to the fact that these cities form a community that is fast becoming the greatest Industrial center on the Mississippi river north of St. Louis. The post, which Is composed of traveling men of the three cities and Is therefore in a position to take up such a project for the benefit of this community, decided favorably on the plan and instructed the president, W.
