The better offerings have included the Patterson-Liston short-lived heavyweight cham-pioqship fight, a Kingston Trio summer theater show, a production of "Midsummer Night's Dream" with puppets, and a film of the Bolshoi Ballet. Prices per program range from a quarter for a children's show to $1 for a movie and $3.50 for the fight. There's, a $10 installation fee for the pay-TV decoder. The subscriber dials a number to unscramble the show he wants to see, and the price registers on a tape in the decoder.

At the end of the month he simply adds up his own bill and mails in the price. WCKR ONCE AGAIN IS looking for a smart high school football player. WGBS and WCKR especially are two of Miami's largest stations engaged in what is to them a deadly serious fight for listeners and the advertising dollar.

Broadcasting Spanish at night cannot but cost them points in the next rating periods, and those points can be equated to revenue. It isn't quite as if they had any choice. A government-regulated enterprise does not turn down a request from Voice of America. Yet their compliance should not go unnoticed. Both WCKR and WGBS, incidentally, are broadcasting regular programming on FM at night.

Three Months Of Pay TV The first volunteers up in Hartford, to get a dose of pay television like it, but they say they'd tiope to see more varied programming such as Broadway plays. The RKO experiment has been underway for three months now. It is the first time in our memory that television has devoted 90 minutes to a public service program that was not a live event such as an election night or a space shot. VOA said "Iron Curtain listeners, denied the truth by Communist censorship and distortion, will hear on some 80 different frequencies a full report of U.S. actions, the reasons therefor, and a summary of related developments." The U.S. transmitters will concentrate on a special half-hour program, which will be broadcast 7 times in Russian, twice in English, and once each in Armenian, Georgian, Ukran- 11:30 APARTMENTS AND YACHT BASIN.
