According to weekly reports from the City of Odessa building depart-' ment October 1980 ended with a total 215 permits issued with a total valuation for which those permits were issued of (7.03 million. This compares to 117 permits issued in October 1979 with an ending valuation for which those permits were issued at $3.27 million. The trend for construction in Odessa has slowed but the year of 1980 so far has a total of 1,680 permits and a total valuation for which permits were issued of $83.56 million.

During the same 10-month period in 1979 there were 1,444 building permits issued with a valuation total of $52.87 million. The week of Oct. 24-30 ended with .50 permits issued at a valuation for which those permits were issued totaling $1.45 million. This compared to a total of 61 permits at a total valuation of $1.75 million for the previous No commercial permits were issued during the week of Oct 24-30. For new houses in Odessa week of Oct 24-30 ended with 12 per- mits at a total valuation of $771,000.
