Existing loan is assumable. Should see immediately by calling: each young reader whose contest entry wins a national grand prize. To qualify for a chance to be such a winner, a contest entry must first win a local preliminary prize which will be a grab bag award from Cappy Dick's big supply of various "fun" articles such as craft kits, pocket games, show-and-tell curios and other interesting things. Ten such local prizes will be awarded in each city where this column is published, including Garden City. Entries will be judged for neatness, accuracy and originality. All the winning entries will then be reviewed by the judges to find the five neatest and most original of all. These will win the Tuesday Taylor dolls and penthouse apartments. To enter the contest, the young reader must form the names of two South American countries from the letters in the above picture of the gaucho. There are five letters in one name, six in the other. Clip out the picture, paste it on paper, print the two names beneath it along with your own name, age, address and zip code. Decorate the entry in any neat, original way with paints, crayons or cutouts. Address it to Cappy Dick's nidweek Tuesday Taylor Doll Contest at the Garden City 70. Curt Schneider told the head of Kansas United Dry Forces today that state law prohibits operation of a cash bar to serve alcoholic -bever- » ages. j The opinion went to the Rev. ... Richard E. Taylor Jr., who I had raised the question about * legality of such cash bars in * regard to an announcement by j the Channel 11 Club that it « planned such a cash bar at a « social function planned here. I The Channel 11 Club is an organization formed to raise ", financial support for KTWU, ' the educational television J station here. j Schneider said in his opinion ; to the Rev. Mr. Taylor that he ' has contacted club sponsors ' and, "They indicated that they were unaware of the prohibitions, -and have agreed to eliminate the cash bar and champagne in connection with the evening event." The opinion is expected to have wider ranging effect than just locally. It is believed many organizations conduct such cash bars in connection with local social events. The Rev. Mr. Taylor sought Schneider's opinion after he received an invitation to attend the Channel 11 Club's function, which was to include the cash bar and champagne supper buffet for a charge of $10. "The sale of champagne is likewise prohibited," Schneider noted. No Gas Shortage For Home Owners TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Barring an unusually bitter winter, Kansas home owners shouldn't notice much difference in the amount of heating fuel available, but .< industrial users of natural gas ,. may exeprience greater > curtailments. : That assessment came Sun- ; day from Lamar "Bud" • Weaver, director fo the state ; Energy Office. ; He said residential users of ' natural gas and other fuels ' probably won't be affected ', any more than they have in ', recent years. The only things residential consumers have noticed in recent years is soaring costs of their fuel bills—but no shortages. Industrial users have experienced curtailments of their supplies in recent Kansas winters, and that not only is expected to continue but could expand, Weaver said. Those industrial customers by now should be on alternative fuels for use during the. curtailment of natural gas, Weaver added. He estimated that the periods of curtailment could be as much as 25 per cent higher this winter than last winter. Recent Kansas winters have been mild, Weaver pointed out, and the 25 per cent increase in curtailments is based on projections of a more "normal" Kansas winter this year. An unusually severe winter could mean even more industrial curtailments than the projected 25 per cent increase, he noted.
