10 Supplement to the Palm Beach Daily News, Sunday, November 9, 1997 Getting the hottest tickets to the top events lis Sullivan Trump Willinger Pappas Thanksgiving weekend lumbers around, the warmth of being constantly surrounded by parents and children gradually becomes the heat of a homicidal claustrophobia. Get out while you still can. Hire a sitter for those sociopaths you call grandchildren, put on some decent clothes (preferably ones that aren't adorned with turkey gravy) and dance the night away to the music of the Mike Carney Orchestra. Junior tickets start at $100. That's less than what it would cost to clean the blood off the carpet.

Mary Alice Pappas is chairwoman. The Tribute To Jackie photographic exhibit opening, Dec. 8 at the Mar-a-Lago Club. The traveling exhibit of the work of Jacques Lowe has been attracting crowds on its two-year tour. Lowe was the official photographer of the Kennedy presidential campaign, and then the Kennedys' family photographer.

Palm Beach is one of the final stops on the tour, which ends in New York. Proceeds from the opening night reception will benefit the Leukemia Society, the JFK Medical Center and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Lymphoma Research Fund. Now numbering in the hundreds, they're enough to make even a marathoner tape up the old ankles and stay home. We know you're going to Red Cross, Preservation, hospital, Community Foundation, Heart and Cancer. Those are givens. And of course youll support whatever other charity is important to you. But what about the rest of the winter? It just wouldn't do for you to spend all your time parked in front of the tube eating Chinese take-out.

(That's what 60 Minutes is for.) This season's hot tickets are worth whatever groveling it takes to get one. They're fun, they're for a good cause, and they're a great place to see and be seen. This year, the theme is "A Taste For Splendor: Treasures From The Hillwood Museum," taking its cue from the collection of Marjorie Merriweather Post. The Hillwood Museum was once Post's home and now houses her legendary collection of paintings, porcelains and decorative objects.

Liz Schuler and Betsy Kaiser are chairwomen. It's kind of like the old "how-much-is-it" quandary if you have to ask how to get an invitation, you're not invited. Denim and Diamonds, Feb. 22 at the Village, Palm Beach Polo Equestrian Center. This Western-themed event raises money for the U.S.

Equestrian Team and the Equestrian AIDS Foundation. It's young, it's hip and everyone shows up in jeans. Of course, you can wear black-tie if you want, but at this point in the season, who wants to? Mason Phelps is chairman. The Preservation Foundation Family Picnic, April 24. No word yet on whether Bill and Angela Koch's purchase of the property where the event takes place will affect the location this season.

Carol McCracken and Cindy Hoyt are chairwomen of this casually good time. Bring the kids, eat ribs with your fingers, leave the high heels at home and let your hair down to music from Motown and the '60s girl groups. We will still love you tomorrow. Donald Trump is chairman, with Dorothy Sullivan serving as chairwoman. Ballet Florida's Mediterranean Fantasy event, Dec.

12-13 aboard the SSC Radisson Diamond. Here's something different dinner, dancing and cocktails without having to drive home. The overnight event starts with a cocktail party and silent auction as the ship departs the Port of Palm Beach, followed by a gala dinner dance. After dinner, there's a show, a piano bar, lounges and even a casino open until the wee hours, and no drive home since guests spend the night aboard ship. The ship returns to port at 8 a.m.

Jan Willinger is chairwoman. Tickets start at $1,000 per couple, but maybe you'll get lucky and win it back at the tables. The anniversary dinner dance of Club Colette, Dec. 14. More bang for the buck for this one.

In addition to serving as the club's anniversary celebration, it also honors Jean Tailer for her work as chairwoman of the Norton Museum's Bal des Arts. Skip breakfast, skip lunch and dress to the nines. This a party for grown-ups with an appetite for fine wine, fine food and fine art. The Zoo2000 dinner dance, Jan. 9.

Organizers promise that this year's party will top last's, and that won't be easy. Bathtubs filled with bottles of Dom Perignon, ice sculptures, mountains of caviar and entertainment by Regina Belle are not everyday party fare. Not even in Palm Beach. The details including the location for this year's zoo party are being kept hush-hush, but we do know that the main entertainment will likely be a queen of the music industry who commands a lot of Respect. Yup, that's a hint.

The Kravis Center's annual Night Of Stars gala, Jan. 10 at the Kravis Center. Some party, some entertainment and some more party. What else is there? The evening kicks off with pre-performance cocktails, then continues with a concert by Johnny Mathis. (Instead of seats, the Kravis should install back seats from old Chevys, and really Palm Beaches' Most Complete Sculpture Fine Art Supply Store.
