THE MIAMI NETTS, Friday, Msrch IS, 1959 78 YOUR BEST I 1 efiiiict i. EASY TO READ) rip' TV GRACEFULLY YOURS Many Laughs In 'Dungeon' By ART GRACE TalrrtabM W'rttw Tt MlaM Havl If one Is to judge by its most recent exposure, Channel 7'1 "The Dungeon" is, for the most fart, perfectly' good children's fare. This series (Sundays at 4 p.m.) consists of ancient horror films or so I thought. Last Sunday, however, "The Boogie Man" proved a wild-eyed, outlandish takeoff on all horror movies. OLA tvii By TV Key (Here Is a preuieuj of tonight's outstanding television programs, compiled by TV-Key.

The preuieu! are based on rehearsals ond-or private screenings attended by members oj TV Key.) RAWHIDE (8 p.m., Ch. 4) "Incident of the Golden Calf." Trail boss Gil Favor almost loses his herd to a tricky cattleman tonight. Apart from the conniving plot, a 4 if 1 fj Wt KT (D WI'ST AND BOD HOPE 7 At 8 P.M. mum (Sea TV Key) Walt Dliney (Hour) Donald Duck celebrate 25th birthday in "Highway to Trouble." (Hour) (See TV Key) Bob Hope Show Bad 7 I nV A a Tv Molc Kited Fulr portrayed by Charles Baxter. On any given Sunday, Mr. Baxter can give children nightmares merely by appearing on the screen.

When he starts spouting off about how the boogie man will get you, its time to get the kids far out of range. Soma adults, however, find Baxter more appealing as M. T. Graves than as a spieler of commercials, his Monday through Saturday task on the station. PICK YOUl SPOTS Aside from "Playhouse 90." you have to depend on occasional special programs for worthwhile television drama.

If you have good deal of patience, you can find soma exceptional dramatic works In the next two months. Oa Monday, March 13, "Hallmark Hall of Fame" will repeat "Green Pastures" Channel 7. On March 28, Channel 4 will present VShow of the Month's" adaptation of William Saro-yan's "Human Comedy." And on April 28 Helen Hayes and Lloyd Nolan will co-star in Eugene O'Neill's "Ah Wilderness," another "Hallmark Hall of Fame" production on Television is never as bad as it appears to be. It Isn't possible. A reader informs me that I have been attacked by Alan Courtney of WQAM because' of my lack of reverence for night club comedian Sam Levenson.

The reader also wants to know If I am going to reply. No, I am not. At far as Mr. Levenson Is concerned, I expressed my opinion and stand on it. As for Mr.

Courtney, it is extremely doubtful that wa would agree on It waa the broadest kind i4 alapatick, with Boris Karloff, Peter Loire and evea Slapsle Maxle Roaenbloom, Not evea Casper Milquetoast a I bave been frightened by anything that transpired In "The Boogie Man." The only frightening aspect of "The Dungeon" is the series' host, M. T. Graves, ghoulUhly I What's Up John Daly, facing repeated rumors about hli withdrawal from administrative news duties at ABC to concentrate on performing, categorically de niea them. "I have no plana In that line," says Daly. "When I'm prepared to give up my administrative duties, I will probably ask for a general release from ABC" For the first time in two seasons "Gun-smoke" was tossed off the top Nielsen position, and it's another Western that did it "Wagon Train." Andrey Meadows, without comedy partner since Jackie Gleasnn put aside ideas, becomes Sid Caesar's vis-a-vis in the situation comedy series he'a planning for "Screen Gems" George Gobel, a free aqent since severing ties with" NBC, is turning a receptive ear to bids from CBS and ABC for next season Esther Williams exercised a woman's prerogative and changed her mind about going ahead with her TV series that was to be done at 2nth Century Fox.

Fickleness, however, had nothing to do with it. When the contract was drawn, according to Miss Williams, the Ingenuity and fresh approach that had been proposed, were missing. "They're still acting like a big picture studio," she says, "little knowing or caring that flexibility is the key to TV. Their terms were so rigid that I would have been hampered in everything I wanted to do." By IV Kfyi Good Outstanding ter of a preacher named Brother Bent, who joins the cattle drive, is both puzzling and entertaining. Mac-Donald Carey plays the preacher and gives the show its sparkle.

(Hour) BOB HOPE (8 p.m., Ch. 7, Color) Lots of doctors' jokes tonight, plus quips on the Academy Award nominations. Also, Hope teams up with pretty Julie London and Chuck Connors for funny sketch about the last three people left on earth. Guy Mitchell sings "Alias Jesse James, Gail Davia docs "Wabash Cannon Ball" and Miss London wails "Must Be Catchin'," After working with Fess Parker and Connors in a satire called "Head Shrlnker," Bob's comment is "Now I know how George Gobel feels." SQUAD (9 p.m.', Ch. 7) "Death Threat." Somebody's been taking pot shots at Lieutenant Bal-linger, and the usually placid policeman resents it.

He finds a logical suspect and spends the rest of the show trying to prove him guilty. Despite Ballinger'a determination, this is mild for the series. TOMBSTONE TERRITORY (9 p.m., Ch. 10) (Season's Premiere) "Whipsaw." One of last season's better westerns returns for another run along the network trail. Pat Conway is still fine as the Sheriff of Tombstone and, as per instructions, he'a smiling more often.

This episode has a rousing finale with about half a dozen Apaches being picked off by an unholy alliance of sheriff and bad men. Reasonably entertaining. 77 SUNSET STRIP (9:30 p.m., Ch. 10) "Pasadent Caper." A silly mystery, yet it has some suspensef ul moments. Private eye Bailey checks on two old Pasadena ladies, both of whom have missing sons.

He pretends to sprain his back at their house, ao he can remain there and play spy. Lota of corny whodunit touches, but entertaining nevertheless. PERSON TO PERSON (10:30 p.m., Ch. 4) Sarah Gibson Bland-ing, first woman president of Vassar College, and writer Budd Schulberg cover a wide variety of topics in their visits with Murrow tonight. Miss Blanding'a range from the role of women in society to her hobby, Southern cooking, while Schulberg turns to his precocious Hollywood boyhood, his Interest in boxing, waterfront crime, and American culture in general.

JACK PAAR SHOW (11:20 p.m.. Ch, 7) Jack has actor Fred MacMurray along to charm the panel department, interviews that old-time movie comic, Jack Haley, and does a monologue he coyly titles, "The Children's Marching Song."
