For the most part the holidays have been given over to the student set, the older contingents being content to look on with good-natured tolerance the while they busied themselves with Ked Cross duties and other social service activities.

A peep into the dining room of the Hotel Royal Palm, last evening the opening nightshowed society there in full -force, maids and matrons who must knit if nothing else, carrying their knitting with them. The younger set did not have a monopoly on uniforms, either. There were no special decorations for the opening, the big hotel not needing them, by the way. Bright lights, music by the Mereadante orchestra, and a wayen dancing floor contributed their share to the evening, but there were those who preferred the deep-cushioned chairs near the fireplace.
