Lindquist and Sons By RAY WIGHT It--may not be the thing to choose if you want something light and cheerful but the We ber State College play ect of Gamma Rays on Man-In- the-Moon which I opened Tuesday night at the college's Little Theater is powerful drama The Pulitzer prize-winning play "continues nightly at 8 through Saturday with a Saturday matinee at 2 CONCERNS EFFECTS The stark and bitter-sweet play concerns the effects of gamma rays on those long-nam-Jed marigolds and the effect of some other kind of radiation(?) on the tangled and embittered lives of a family of three afflicted with unusual stresses Tillie the young daughter who has dreams despite her sordid surroundings is nicely played by Sylvia Hill who carries the mood well and with constraint Beatrice her bitter and problem-ridden mother also was capably portrayed by Diane Rerflson Her acting seemed a little forced and strident in the earlier scenes but relaxed to something much smoother later on It is a difficult and demanding role Cindy Jo Slover as the somewhat slatternly and unwell sister Ruth came through with a vigorous and direct interpretation of her part Rhonda Miracle as Nanny the gruesome did a tremendously realistic presentation of life at one of its lower ebbings WELCOME RELIEF Janice Vickery as played by Leslie Haws brought welcome comic relief and a round of hearty applause as she went through her science fair bit Peter the rabbit was played bj Jackie who was completely relaxed all the way through The cast is one of the better-integrated and competent seen at the college in some time The play is acerbic in its mood but there is that gleam of upward reaching to brighten it Director is Dr Leonard Rowley with scenery and costumes designed by Jerry Allen MILLER Funeral
