Hew Cole School Board Works On County Survey county's new school board asted no time in getting down to business in its first meeting. held Monday in the office of County Superintendent of Schools Jack M. Wilson. Several members signified their willingness to attend 'a procedures meeting next Thursday at the Central Missouri State College at Warrensburg, where discussions will be held on how 21 newly-elected school boards in 21 Central Missouri counties Jlfnay proceed in their work. Hedrick was elected president of the new board here and Hugo Schubert was elected vice president. The other four members of the board, named last week when school board members from all the districts in Cole county met here, are County Recorder Henry Le Page, Clarence Schnieders, W. H. Shannon and Oscar Erhardt. Wilson, not a board member, is permanent secretary.

Survey information gathering techniques will be outlined by John Owen, superintendent of schools in Benton county, and Edgar Hinote, superintendent of schools in St.

Clair county. The Cooper county school board will report on the progress it has made in its work. Goal Better Conditions President George W. Diemer of the college will also speak on the new program. Monday it was decided at the first meeting of the board here to have Wilson gather information for the next meeting, to be held about two weeks.

He will provide the members with a large map showing the extent of 44 school districts in Cole county, with locations of chool buildings marked. Other iformation he will supply will be the locations and types of roads in the county, locations of major streams, locations of pupils by districts, and routes of present school bus lines. General aim of the new board is to suggest better conditions for operating the schools, from the standpoint of the pupils and the taxpayers. and Mrs. Stone, Columbia, also left Saturday for Great Lakes. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson, Couteray, are the parents of a son born to them in Couteray on Saturday.

Billy Snodgrass Fatally Wounded In Gun Accident Billy Curtis Snodgrass, 17-year- old senior in the lower division of the Jefferson City Junior College, was killed late Sunday afternoon when he was accidentally shot in the head by a companion while target practicing. The tragedy occurred at the city dump on Algoa road, formerly the Old St. Louis road. Deputy Sheriff 'Louis Backers said Harold Holing, 21, Schott road, shot Snodgrass when the latter rose from a kneeling position jjust as Roling fired a 22 caliber rifle. and Mrs. Everett D. Snodgras, of 1412 East Miller street, had been target practicing with Roling and A. J. Eveler, 20, of 630 Clark avenue, and Herbert Bryant, 16, of 1300 East State street.
