Generally described as miscible-phase displacements this system of secondary recovery employs a liquefied 'petroleum gas which wilt mix with the "underground oil.

The theory behind the method is simple. One of its users, Sunrav Mid-Continent Oil explains it this way: "Suppose you have oil on your hands, and attempt to wash off with soap and water. The water will flush off some of the ofl. but not alt of it. But if you use gasoline, the gasoline will mix with the oil and the oil-gasoline combination can easily be removed from your hands.

The total compares with 142, new locations staked in the eame area during the first weelfof 1958. Ector County paced new drilling activity in West Texas with locations for 13 new field development wells. There were no exploratory tests scheduled in the county during the week, however.

Lea County continued to dominate new drilling ventures in New Mexico with nine new field development tests and one wild pools anually. It is described as the process of injecting water (either fresh or briny) into the oil-bearing formation, forcing the crude oil to the surface. Improvements Cited Proponents of LP-G injection say that, in some cases it Is an improved method of secondary recovery. One of the chief reasons, they say. is because once the liquefied petroleum gas has been mixed with the oil, an injection of dry gas then pushes nearly, an -of the fluid to the surface.
