He was born October 29, 1902, in Broad Top Township, Bedford County, a son of John and Mary (Fessler) Mitchell. He was married to hlva Foor in August, 1923.

His wife survives alone with four children, Mrs. Allene Park of ms. He was employed by the Rockhill Coal Company as a coal miner for a number of years prior to taking his UMWA post. Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 29, from Wood Methodist Church. Rev. Glenn Pursel, pastor of the church officiated, assisted by the Rev. W.
