McKoln, who deserted his office and fled from the community following an attempted ambush and threats from a rival terrorist organization, was taken Into custody In Baltimore on orders of Governor John M.

Parker. 'Authorities today charged. McKoln with the murder of Watt Daniels and Thomas JEV Richards, whose- bodies were found in Lake La Fourche, after being weighted to the bottom since last August, when they were kidnaped by a hooded mob. Federal operatives brought to light a dual personality in charging the former mayor with heading a band 'of mysterious night riders. As a profes sional man.

Dr. McKola braved death and disease day and night to adminis ter to the townspeople and often aided the negro families his alleged band was bent on terrorizing. With the arrest of McKoln, the investigation here was rapidly approach lng a climax. Federal agents prepared to apprehend a man they charged with leading a group of dynamiters who loosed the bodies of Daniels and Richards In a fruitless effort to re-bury hem before discovery of the crime. i A search began in the Lake La Fourche section today for additional evidence against the alleged dynamiters and for pieces of clothing and other bits of identification of the dead men.

BALTIMORE, Dec. 27. Dr. B. M.

He las engaged Robert XL Carman, formef united State district attorney here, to seek his release on a writ of habeas corpus. Regardless of the murder charge, he says he does not want to go back. Dr. McKoln explains his reasons for not wanting to return, saying that he left Mer Rouge long before Watt Daniels and Thomas Richards were seised by a masked mob and murdered, that-he knows hothlng about their deaths and before he left the state he had appeared before grand juries- and other agencies of Justice and told all he knew.

McKoln admits having killed another physician seven years ago, but declared that that was a case of self-defense. He said there was a feud between Mm and the other man; that the other man started to draw and be (Dr. McKoln) was quicker. This, however, had nothing to do with the recent disorders at Mer Rouge which followedvthe physician's activities as a reform mayor, he declared. He was being held in central police station today pending action on the habeas corpus writ or arrival of Louisiana officers with requisition papers.
