MARKETS 8y A«wslat»d Prat* WALT, STREET B> Associated Preii NEW YORK —A brief rally in the slock market sparked by motors today turned aside a lower tendency throughout the list. The motors with considerable help from rails were ahead by fractions to between 1 and 2 points. The remainder of the market displayed pains almost as good. On the downside, however, were plenty of losers, usually in the fractions. Volume came to around a million and a quarter. That compares with yesterday's post election build-up of 2,030.000 shares. Higher stocks included Atlantic Coast Line, Southern California, Edison, Du Pont, Wcstinghouse Electric, Amerada Petroleum, Bethlehem Steel, General Motors, and Philco. U. Si NEA Say Prisoners Ate Cats, Birds By Associated Press CHESTER, 111.— An explanation has been offered on how at least some Menard East Cell House prisoners staved off hunger in their four day mutiny. It has been reported they ate cats and a pigeon. An Illinois policeman said one inmate told him while on duty around the East Cell House that some prisoners steamed several cats, and a pigeon. The cats have the run of the prison as rat catchers. The pigeon happened to fly in. Warden Jerome J. Munie said- today he had hoard the same report but never pinned it down. He said he had believed the 339 in-' mates had candy, obtained pre-- viously from the Menard commis-' sary. Bulldozing, Land Clearing Cxeavctlns. Ponic Lakes •sssmcntSi stasd Biilldlns Graelltis.
