line has been established between searchlight and hart and a water system is in contemplation pla tion several engineering firms and assay offices have located in hart included in the list being the small force at work during the remainder of the winter mr kennerly also has a few men at work on the la bellevue near granite THE ARDEN PLASTER COMPANY in lincoln county cou nty nevada ten miles south of las vegas an industrial enterprise of considerable magnitude has been established concerning which but little has been said in the newspapers of this western country and yet it represents an in vestment of something like this is the big plaster mill and works of the arden plaster company which are arelo located at arden on the salt lake route ten miles south and a little west of the junction city of las vegas and the sight of this isolated plant on the desert is the subject of much comment among passengers as the express and the limited sweep by in a cloud of dust this is reported to be the second largest gypsum plant in the united states and the most complete in its construction and equipment the latter consisting of a horsepower corliss engine together with rotary crushers burr mills separators kettles andmixers etc the mill having a daily capacity of tons of crude gypsum the gypsum deposit is located five miles from the treating plant and to facilitate transportation a narrow gauge road has been built the rolling stock of which consists of engine and open automatic dump cars the gypsum as it comes from the mine is 90 per cent pure and the supply is practically inexhaustible the manufactured product embraces plaster of parts plaster dental plaster and various other commercialcommodities the entire output of the plant the mining review is informed having 1 I company moore is manager at arden and among salt lakers interested are john sharp and john sharp jr THE RED WARRIOR merritt one of the leading mining men of milford utah was in salt lake last week en route to montana where lie he had been called to attend the funeral of ills his four year old baby whose death was due to a kicking horse mr merritt deeply feels his loss and has the condolence and sympathy of a host of friends in his deep affliction in speaking of mining affairs in deaverbeaver county mr merritt informed the mining review that his company the duluth con soli dated had secured possession of the famous mo us red warrior claim adjoining the moscow on the north and that the company had been reorganized organized re under the name of the red warrior mining company the red warrior holdings cover the elj ex tension benlon of the moscow ledge and the mos cows north drift is within feet of the red warrior endline the moscow QT body mr merritt says is a wonder it has been crosscut cross cut for over thirty feet and th whole mass is good shipping ore in the moscow experienced mining men recognize recognize a bonanza and it may de develop celop into one of the greatest in utah the red warrior on the north should have the extension of the same ore body while the commonwealth without doubt will have the south extension of the same matchless body of mineral the red warrior has been productive of much high aih grade ore in the past and work will soon be begun in i its extensive development wm win A eaton of duluth minne- sota is president of the company mr merritt stated that work is in progress in the development of the property of the success mining company in beaver lake district sutherlands HERLANDS SUT ASSAY OFFICE BILL the senate committee on mines and mining has reported favorably on the bill introduced trod by senator george sutherland of utah for the establishment of a government assay office office at salt lake as follows there are at present assay offices or mints in each of the important mining states with the exception of utah namelycoinage mints at san francisco cal carson city nev and denver colo the two latter being at present conducted as assay offices assay offices at dolseboise ida helena mont deadwood and seattle wash As shown by the report of the treasury department on the iro production of precious metalsthe state of utah in the year 1904 produced gold and silver of the value of and the report of thedirector of themint for the year 1906 shows that the production of these metalshas increased to the value of these amounts being exceeded only in three states namely colorado california and montana the production of gold in the state of utah for the calendar year 1904 was in 1906 it had increased to the production of the precious metals in ill utah for the year 1907 will undoubtedly ex ced everything indicates that there will be a steady increase in gold and silver in this state year by year hereafter in addition to this during thelast few years the valley of salt lake where it is proposed to establish this office has become the most important smeltingsmelling sm elting section of the entire country the american smellingsmelting Sm elting refining company the boston consolidated.
