Roone Arledge, president of ABC News and Sports, was quoted as saying his friendship with Ethel Kennedy had nothing to do with the decision not to air the piece Thursday night. "I wouldn't censor anything just because it was going to offend a friend," Arledge was quoted as saying by New York Daily News gossip columnist Liz Smith. "I've already offended over half the friends I have." Anthony Summers, author of "Goddess: The Secret Lives of Marilyn Monroe," charged Friday that the cancellation "was a result Obituaries Architect of Social Security dies New York Times Service Murray Webb Latimer, an architect of the Social Security Act and an expert on pensions, died Tuesday at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington.
