The serious segments on this edition of the new health series are far more effective than the frivolous comedy routines, such as Bob and Ray's short piece on the toothbrush Hall of Fame, A mini-documentary examines a woman's viewpoint on life after having had a mastectomy, both in relationship to her husband and her family, as well as to her career as a violinist. "Frank tried for years to get the stage rights to his material from Samuel Goldwyn, who produced the motion picture," Mrs. Osborn said. Ie wanted to use the songs in a stage musical about Andersen. Frank died in 1969 without, getting these rights. "About a year ago, Goldwyn, in one of the last decisions before his death, gave us the rights." Sam Bottoms guest-stars as a high school kid who finds himself at the point of drinking during the morning, but is reluctant to believe he has a serious problem. His father's "buddy-buddy" attitude toward him only compounds the situation, and it's up to Lucas Tanner to bring everything into sharp focus. Well written, pertinent and informative.

By Jay Sharbutt NEW YORK (AP) -When his two sons were still in school, Lloyd Bridges never tried to dampen their enthusiasm for acting. It's no mean feat when you consider their first paid jobs were in his old "Sea Hunt" series.

The sons Jeff, 24, and Beau, 31 have since gone on to establish successful acting careers of their own, a fact which visibly pleases Bridges the Elder. He says he'd like all three Bridges to appear in the same movie or TV show at the same time, but the opportunity hasn't arisen. In lieu of that, he and Beau are co starring in a CBS special. It's "The Whirlwind," the second in a series of four 90 minute dramas based on the life and times of Benjamin Franklin. In the Dec.

A native Californian whose Broadway debut came in "Othello" 37 years ago, Bridges grinned when asked if he'd ever counseled either son against the thespian life when they showed signs of having the acting bug. "The story in the musical, by the way, is not at all like that in the film.

It covers a number of years in Andersen's life in which he attains fame and fortune, and an influence in his success is the Swedish singing star, Jenny Lind." Mrs. Osborn knows about singing stars. She was one. She came out of Mound City, 111., and had little trouble in making her way in the New York musical world. She achieved her peak as the leading lady of one of the great musicals, the almost operatic "The Most Happy Fella" by Loesser in 1956.

Three years later she married Loesser and retired from the stage to become the mother of Hannah and Emily, now 11 and nine years old, respectively. i Loesser's untimely death turned her into a businesswoman, and in 1973 she married Jack Osborn, head of an industrial design firm who likes the theater but has nothing whatever to do with Frank Music. with an inquiry from London about the possibility of doing a stage musical built around Loesser's score. "Meanwhile, I had been digging into Frank's voluminous files and found three numbers he had written for the movie that were not used," Mrs. Osborn said.

"We also decided to included In the stage score three of his songs from other sources that fitted the mood of a stage musical about Andersen." Whatever its fate, London's "Hans Christian Andersen" is first class all the way. The producer is Harold Fielding, Britain's premier producer of musicals. The star is Tommy Steele as Andersen, probably the most popular of all English players in the variety musical field. The book is by erly Cross, who wrote Steele's tremendously successful show of a few years ago, "Half a Sixpence," which also was a Broadway hit. "The last I heard," Mrs.
