Ohio (AP) -State agricultural experts say the southern corn leaf blight that hit Ohio this year could cause higher prices for beef, pork, milk, eggs and poultry. The disease appears to have reduced corn yields by about 10 per cent, according to extension specialists at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center here.

They say this means dairymen and livestock and poultry producers will pay more for feed, and some of the increased costs probably will be passed on to consumers. Generally, the specialists report, feed prices will rise 1 to 2 Vper cent for each percentage drop in supply. This means the cost rise for corn needed by livestock producers could total 13 to 20 cents per bushel.
