The general entertainment, family-oriented station will broadcast the national programming of the America One Network, Meisse said. Included are such shows as "Press Box" and "Newsport Journal," featuring scores and sports features; the conservative talk show, "For the People;" cartoons; and classic old western movies. Weekend programming includes road racing, fishing, dance classes, and "Healthy Living" with Dr. Joyce Brothers. Local Mansfield area news, sports and weather will complement the national programming.

David Campo, Adelphia Cable Communications general manager, said there is no room on the current system for a new channel. It could take several years for Adelphia to rebuild its current system with fiber optics, thus adding channel capacity, he said. MANSFIELD Anyone in the Mansfield area with a television antenna may tune in a new station by dialing channel 50. It isn't yet available on cable. Z-50 is on the air 24 hours a day from its Park Avenue West studios.

The station has been in business for a couple of months, said Gunther Meisse, president of Mid State Television. Mid State also operates WMFD-TV, channel 68. Mid State decided to start the new station to offer more diversified programming in the Mansfield area, he said. Meisse said the new station is WOHZ, or Z-50, may be received within a 30-mile radius of Mansfield, including in Ashland, Galion and Bucyras. It will broadcast more localized programming than channel 68 and will concentrate on Mansfield, Meisse said.
