McCray, 18, of 255 Mt Ida Improper backing; 310 and costs. S. Paul Mauger, 64, of 217 SEVEN JUVENILES were arrested over the weekend by Fairfield County Sheriffs deputies for investigation of crimes involving thefts. Five were being held today in the county jail, and the other 2 were released. Five of the youths, from Columbus, were nabbed after chases through fields near Carroll early Sunday by Deputies Elmer Bright and Louis Fletcher.

The boys are being detained for Juvenile authorities in Columbus. Bright and Fletcher, notified at 2:46 a.m. by a Rt. 2 Carroll resident that some boys were in a field near his home. The deputies searched nearby fields and apprehended the boys, ages 15 through 17.

3 Brothers To Go On Trial For Tax Evasion CLEVELAND (UPI) -Three brothers of Vince DeNiro, slain Youngstown rackets figure, were to go on trial in U. S. Dis trict Court today on charges of tax evasion. Louis, 34; Michael, 44, and frank 40, are accused of failing to pay taxes on their brother's estate. Last year a federal grand jury indicted them for allegedly evading more than $111,000 in taxes.

The indictment charges they altered and pre-dated documents after Vince DeNiro was killed by a bomb connected to his auto in July. 1961. at Youngstown. They have waived a jury Judge Frank J. Battisti will hear the cases.

Jonas Elected Austria Chief VIENNA (UPI)-Franz Jonas the Socialist mayor of Vienna, was elected president of Aus-tri Sunday for a six-year term. Jonas, 65, defeated former Chancellor Dr. Alfons Gorbach, the candidate of the Conservative People's Party, in a contest to fill the post left vacant by death of Dr.

Children Die In Ohio Accidents By United Press International Children were the principal targets of fatal accidents as Ohio recorded a comparatively safe weekend for the second consecutive week. Half of the eight fatalities in volved children.

No multi-fatalities were recorded by the Unit ed Press International survey, which included six killed in traffic and two drownings. The survey began Friday at p.m. and ended at midnight Sunday. TWO OTHER juveniles and a young adult arrested late Sat urday by Deputy Ed Bigham are suspects in the theft from Anderson Auto Body Shop, Baltimore, reported Saturday afternoon by owner Max Ander son. Anderson told the sheriffs of fice he found a tire and rim missing after the youths left the garage.

The stolen articles were found in the possession of one of the juveniles. Neil F. McCandlish Neil F. McCandlish, 47, West Rushville, died Sunday at 8:30 p. m. at his home.

Mr. Mc Candlish had been associated with the U. S. Department of Agricultural Soil Conservation Service for 15 years. He was an engineering tech nician for the design and con struction of the Upper Hocking Water Shed Project, Rushcreek Water Shed Project and Upper Wabash Water Shed Project in Mercer and Darke Counties.

Mr. McCandlish had been ill for about a year. He was also a World War II veteran, member and chairman of the board of trustees of Calvary Lutheran Church. Oelman, have been named to receive honorary doctorate degrees at the June 6 Wilmington college commencement exercis es.

Colin W. Bell, national execu tive secretary of the American Friends Service Committee, will deliver the 10 a.m. baccalaureate address, according to Wilming ton nesident James M. Read. The commencement ceremony is scheduled for 3 p.m.

on the campus mall, weather permit ting. Mr. Sawyer is the com mencement speaker. The grad uating class of 206 is the largest in Wilmington history. Mr.

Sawyer, a Cincinnati at torney, was United States Sec retary of Commerce from 1948 to 1953. He will be awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws de gree. Oelman, chief executive officer of the National Cash Reg ister Company in Dayton, will receive the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Sawyer holds numerous honorary degrees. An Oberlin graduate, he is also a member of the board of trustees.
