TURIN, Italy (AP) A scientific commission set up by the Roman Catholic archdiocese of Turin to determine the authenticity of the so-called "Holy Shroud of Turin" has reported that a seven-year study proved inconclusive. The panel of experts said it was unable to date the 14-foot cloth, believed by some to have been the burial throud in which Christ's body wax wrapped, nor to prove the pretence of dried blood on the linen. The shroud is "an extremely interesting but still mysterious object," Msgr. Jose Cottino told a news conference, and said more research was needed to ascertain its significance.
