At TimberWolf Amphitheatre, Kings Island's magnificent outdoor concert facility, some dozen top-name acts will perform this summer, and both the American Heritage Music Hall and Festhaus are featuring new original musicals for 1984.

"In 1984, we want Kings Island to be an unforgettable entertainment experience for all our visitors," says T. Lewis Hooper, vice president and general manager. "We feel we are providing a mixture of quality rides, shows, food, merchandise and games that challenge the visitors to try to 'do it all' while they are here all for a single admission price." The park's new $3-million coaster, King Cobra, is a state-of-the-art ride, according to the park, the most technologically advanced coaster 'in America today, transporting riders in a standing position over 2,210 feet of steel track. Designed by Togo Tokyo, Japan, "Can you stand it?" is the challenge resounding throughout Kings Island this year as the park unveils its new high-tech roller coaster on which people stand rather than sit. King Cobra the country's first stand-up, looping roller coaster opened with the park April 22 and joined Kings Island's awesome collection of one-of-a-kind thrill rides.

But the world-class coasters only begin the new entertainment on tap at Kings Island in 1984. For the first time, park visitors also can enjoy such delightful new attractions as HAIR CARE PROGRAM for NUS HOME MAINTENANCE the snakelike coaster is located in the Wild Animal Habitat area of the park and is surrounded by several up-close viewing areas where visitors can marvel at the excitement of the ride. King Corbra's unique features include a 95-foot lift, a 360-degree "head-over-heels" vertical loop that reaches a height of 66 feet, a 540-degree horizontal loop over a lake, and speeds of 50 miles per hour adding up to two minutes of breathtaking thrills un-duplicated anywhere, the park said. The horizontal loop is banked at 80 degrees and sends the standing riders virtually parallel to the ground. King Corbra has plenty of thrill ride company at Kings Island: the park's Beast, a true legend, is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest wooden coaster anywhere, and the Backwards Racer was the world's first wooden coaster to run the entire length of the ride backward.
