Sonoma utilities to be moved underground By Staff Correspondent SONOMA A section of Son- oma will soon have its utility lines moved underground, despite protests from area residents. The Sonoma City Council Monday approved formation of an underground utility district to finance the project. The area where utilities will be moved includes Napa Street from approximately 300 feet west of First Street West to about 150 feet east of First Street East, and on Broadway from Napa Street to 250 feet south of McArthur Street.

The project will benefit the whole city of Sonoma, and the city should pay for it. Some recommended that the project be shelved until a better method of financing is provided. Individual home owners are expected to pay for the cost of trenching from their property lines to their electrical hookup. officials estimated these costs to the property owner at approximately $300, or less, depending on length of trenching. tributions may be made to your favorite charity.

Sieck's parents had pleaded for their son's "right to die," but hospital officials were reluctant to remove the respirator because of the implications for the criminal case pending against the boy's accused attacker. But in a ruling that appeared to tread new ground in such cases, Medical Examiner Robert Stein said the hospital could not be held responsible for the death of the youth, previously determined to be "brain dead." fact of death is a medical matter to be determined by doctors only." The hospital hesitated because charges of aggravated battery against James Sticka, 17, of Cicero, could be upgraded to murder with Sieck's death. Sticka was charged with beating and kicking Sieck in the head one week ago.
