At the regular monthly meeting of the Lancaster Athletic Club held last night 141 new meribers were admitted. This raises tthe merchership up to near the 400 mark, the limit.

The contest for new memher closes on Dec. 16th and a special meeting is to be neld on the Monday following for the purpose of admitting the members secured between now and this date. On Thursday, Dec. 6th the "Hustling Five," a fast basket ball team from Colubus will play at the L. A.

E. Beery of Berne township, in response to 8 message telling of the serious illness of Mrs. Beery's mother, Mrs. Fritz, at Shelbyville, departed Monday afternoon for Shelbyville. Mrs.

EVEN NURSES And Hospital Superintendents Get Sick and Need Medical Attention Miss Catherine Rebman, Head of City Hospital Goes to Atlantic City to Recuperate from Nervous Break Down. Miss Catherine Rebman, Superintendent of the City Hospital, who has been quite ill with pneumonia and a nervous breakdown for several weeks, acting upon the advice for her physicians departed last eventing for her former home at Atlantic City where she will remain until her condition has sufficiently improveded to allow her to resume her trying duties at the hospital. Miss Lula Climers, one of the hospital nurses accompanied Miss Rebman and will have charge of her case while in need of a nurse. During the absence of Miss Rebman the local hospital will be in charge of the hospital nurses and Safety Director, Joshua Clarke. How to Prevent Croup.

Sylvester Waites, the son of Jetferson and Maria Waites was born in Pickaway township, Pickaway county, Ohio. on the 15th day of February. 1855, and died at his home in Amanda township, Fairfield county, Ohio, on the 27th day of November, 1917, aged 62 years, 9 months and 12 days. He was united in marriage to. Louisa Adams, Feb.

5th, 1882, and to this happy union were born three sons and two daughters. While our infant son preceded him to the spirit world, he leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife, two daughters, Grace Marshall and Etta 'Hoffman; two sons, Henton and Emanuel Waites; three grandchildren, seven brothers, two sisters and a host of friends. One sister having preceded him to her rest. Heart. trouble and other complications were assigned as the cause of his death.

As a father and neighbor he would direct right from wrong, evil from: good. None asked SYLVESTER WAITES him for a favor but what he was ever ready to lend a helping hand, and do his part, -but his work is now done. His trouble is all over. He never agair. can feel the chills of death.
