The mill, which I has been restored and now houses many intersting businesses and shops, will be the locale for its newest enterprise, the Steamer Gold Landing Restaurant, named after one of the steamers which went up a and down the Petaluma River delivering cargo between San Francisco and Petaluma many years ago when water was the easiest and cheapest mode of transportation. The restaurant, located at the turning basin of the mavigable Petaluma (salt water) River, will host the event July 31 with a prime rib dinner, wine and dancing.

MRS. LOUISE SIRI, Santa Rosa, was installed as grand marshal for Young Ladies Institute at the 74th grand convention recently in Burlingame. She is a member of St. Rose Institute 132, Santa Rosa. Many of those coming from Marin will arrive by boat, coming up the river and docking nearby for the party. Mrs. Robert Hopps, Belvedere, party chairman, stated that Marin's own Ragtimers Dixieland Band" will entertain during the evening and that the 20 or more shops in the historic old mill will remain open for guided tours. The two-story, restuarant will be the latest addition to the 100 year-old (and some) building. The Steamer Gold Landing adjoins the section of the giant warehouse which was built by Thomas Bayliss in 1854.

The feet thick walls of brick and stone which have been untouched by earthquakes and other natural disasters, have been cleverly utilized in the rugged decor of the new facility. Plans have been made to place tables on the wharf for out-of-door diners and boat travelers. There will also be a no-host bar and special awards. Invitations and reservations chairman is Mrs. Paul Gano (Mary), Kentfield.

Mrs. Alexander MacMillan (Sue), San Rafael, is president of the Marin Charitable Association and Mrs. Dolph Hill Petaluma, is secretary and party publicity chairman. Local reservations may be made with her by 762-7054. The Marin Charitable Association operates solely with volunteers who dedicate many hours toward helping the youth of Marin and the North area.

Some of the important raising events of the past include eight years of sponsorship of the Marin Debutante Ball; the Marin Hike for Help; two Jazz Concerts; an Auction and the Computer Center Opening of Firemen's Fund. Grants have been made to 33 youth agencies in Marin and Sonoma Counties to the benefit of countless girls and boys. Funds raised and dispersed to youth by the 125 members are in excess of $150,000.
