The Senators' Tom McCraw looped a ball into short terfield in the fourth inning Monday and three Cleveland players charged after it. But none got to the ball. Leftfielder John Lowenstein, centerfielder Vada Pinson a and shortstop Jack Heidemann collided and stunned each other as McCraw circled the bases for the homerun, Pinson Suffers Cut "It was like a deck of cards, one went down and the others followed," said Pinson after Cleveland defeated Washington 6-3.

And the Venezuelan government, which controls racing in the colt's home country, reportedly was interested in buying the horse to spur interest in breeding in the South American nation. "The government officials have said they would like to keep him at home," a spokesman said Monday, "to spur interest in breeding created by Canonero in the Derby and Preakness.

"But I doubt if the government can match the offer of the people in Miami," he continued. "If the government offers would anything be less, poor Mr. r. Baptista a businessman to accept it." Would Keep 4 Shares Baptista, a Caracas businessman, said he would have to retain four shares in any syndication, keep any earnings from the Belmont Stakes, with the horse running under the original ownership in the Belmont. Canonero II, with a chance to become the first Triple Crown winner since Citation in 1948, has scared off quite a bit of position for the final leg.

Jim French, runner up in the Derby and third the Preakness, appears to be the only certain repeater from the previously beaten fields. When asked why he didn't continue to throw with the sidearm motion last year, Bunning said, "'That gets old too. You simply have to try to mix them up. He said that the sidearm delivery gives him "a great follow through." At the plate, Bunning swatted a home run in the sixth inningthe seventh homer of his career -and put the Phillies ahead 1-0 in the third inning with a sacrifice fly. "Want to know what my biggest thrill of the night was?" Philadelphia Manager Frank Lucchesi asked. Family Watches Game Itles, recalled from the minors over the weekend, stroked the decisive single.

The Red Sox widened their East Division lead over secondplace Baltimore to games, coming from behind on George Scott's two-run double in the fifth and then staving off the Tigers with the help of a sensational catch by left fielder Carl Yastrzemski, With one on and two out in the seventh, Yastrzemski raced to the wall in left center and made a leaping stab of Willie Horton's long drive against the scoreboard, robbing the Detroit slugger of a potential game tying extra base hit. Horton slammed a two-run homer off Ray Culp, 4-2, in the fourth to give the Tigers a 2-1 edge, but Scott's two-out double in the fifth scored Luis Aparicio and Reggie Smith, sending former Cy Young Award winner Dean Chance down to his sixth loss in as many decisions. Mel lemyre picked up the victory, his fourth against one setback, with eighth inning relief help from Jack Aker. Home runs by John Lowenstein and Hawk Harrelson staked the Indians to an early 4-0 lead and they held off Washington in a game marked by a jarring collision between left fielder Lowenstein, center fielder Vada Pinson and shortstop Jack Heideman that forced all three to the sidelines. They ran together chasing Tom McCraw's looping fly ball to left center in the fourth inning and it went for an insidethe park homer.
