Thompson, supervisor of the Calcasieu Soil Conservation district, and F. J. Ezernack, Soil Conservation Service technician, presented an award to Mrs. Esther N. Terry at the recent Business and Professional Women's Club meeting. The award read as follows: "Distinguished Achievement award in conservation education to Mrs. Esther N. Terry in recognition of your outstanding accomplishment in teaching conservation and resource, use of soil, water, range, woodland and wildlife and your ability and achievement in imparting to your students an understanding and appreciation of their natural resources and for inspiring these boys and girls, our leaders of tomorrow, to conserve and wisely use their heritage for the ben fit of the future generation." Mrs. Terry teaches the fifth grade at DeRidder Third Street Elementary School. She is a past president of the DeRid- der BPW club and was elected state vice president this year.
