Court Is Lenient With Man Who Spent Four Months in County Jail Awaiting Trial Spending four months in the awaiting trial, is an uncomfortable punishment, Judge Charles P. Ribble said yesterday in common pleas court. Joseph Smith, 24, who was committed to the jail. That village today forms part of the bed of a lake 13 miles long, and fishes of the Susquebanna river now dart in and out of the remains of homes where Marylanders once lived. Founded by Indians Conowingo was founded 150 years ago by the Susquebanna Indians.

When the power project was approved by state authorities, arrangements were made with all the villagers- now. of course, Marylanders Instead of Indians- for the purchase of the entire town to be rebullt another site. The project started in 1912 with the organization of the company which developed plans for the construction of a power unit, the first cost of which was to be $30,000,000. Homer Wisecarver, Herman Edwards and William Wilkinson were each fined $25 and costs yesterday by Judge Ribble after they pleaded guilty to petit larceny charges. Slater, of Columbus, here, Monday, with the filing of an affidavit charging Lloyd Dayton with using the wrong licenses on his automobile. Dayton was arraigned in municipal court Monday morning on the charge preferred by Inspector Slater and pleaded not gullty.

He was found guilty, however, and a fine of $25 and costs was imposed by Judge William Freiich. Dayton was unable to pay the fine and was taken to county jail to serve out the fine. day afternoon that action taken by Chief of Police declared MonPeter, Inspector Slater is but a sample of what motorists who violate the laws governing the display of license plates can expect in the future. Male, ANNOUNCE FUNERAL OF SUICIDE VICTIM Funeral services for Miss Melissa Spratt, aged 52, of near Spratt Station, who committed suicide by drinking carbolic acid in the haymow at the family home Sunday morning, will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at the home with burial in the Zion cemetery. Miss Spratt was 8 member of the Presbyterian church. She is survived by two brothers, Charles and Melvin Spratt at home; two sisters, Mrs.

Louella Elliott, Roswell, N. and Mrs. Robert Ray of Chandlersville. No report of the suicide of Miss Spratt was made to Coroner G. B.

Trout of Muskingum county. This was considered unnecessary by a Guernsey county physician who was called on the case, he said last night. EMPLOYE OF LOCAL PLANT IS INJURED Virgil Fulton, 27, of 536 Peters alley, WAS painfully injured nt 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Kearns-Gorsuch Glass Bottle plant No, 2, Ridge road, when he was hurled into the air by a windlass. He WAs unable to tell how the accident happened, but Was found near the machine in a sertous condition. The Keck ambulance was called to take Fulton to Good Samaritan hospital for treatment.
