then 27-6 PC strikes quickly rolls over Jackets, today, tomorrow and Wednesday it 2 a MIL wggs 1 PERRYSBURG By land by air Port Clinton Redskins struck with suddenness, Friday night; then coasted to a 27-6 victory over Perrysburg. The non-league win boosted Port Clinton's season record to two wins, one loss and one tie. Visiting Redskins needed only four plays to strike the first time and 17 plays to mount a three-touchdown 20-0 lead. Playing close-to-the-vest for the of Bowling Green the Redskins still managed to give next week's foe a few problems to consider. On display was the ground-eating running of Joe Gonya behind a line which on occasion swept the opposition off the field.

Then there was the long-bomb passing potential of Quarterback Duane Kokinda to any one of several receivers. 1 Gonya, with the strong assist of the offensive line, had his finest day of the young season. He carried the ball 18 times for a net of 150 yards. In addi-' tion, he caught two passes for another 27 yards and a total offensive night of 177 yards. Gonya scored the first two touchdowns, one on 53-yard gallop and the 'second on reception of a 21-yard pass from Kokinda.

Perrysburg managed to handle the ball for only five plays when it was already down 20-0. After Per-rysburg's kickoff, Gonya broke off his long touchdown run on the fourth play from scrimmage. The left side of the offensive line wiped out the opposition and Gonya had only two deep men to beat on the scamper. Once in the open he had too much speed for the opposition. Gonya proved the power of his foot on the placement after the first touchdown.

The Redskins were set back five yards with a procedure penalty and the ball was spotted by holder Kokinda on the 15-yard line. Gonya booted the 25-yard placement with yards to spare. Perrysburg had the ball for only one play when sophomore linebacker Tim Celek intercepted a Jake Sweede pass and returned it to the Perrysburg 40-yard line. Gonya and Dan Woods alternated on rushing plays to carry the ball to the Perrysburg one-yard line. A 10-yard Gonya gain sandwiched between two 15-yard holding penalties one of which nullified a touchdown by fullback Tim Baechle left the Redskins with third down on the Perrysburg 21-yard line.

Kokinda then hit Gonya with a flat pass and the 192-pound halfback again won the foot race into the endzone. He also added the placement kick for a 14-0 lead. The home team gained only three yards in three plays and was forced to punt. This time it took the Redskins five plays to move the ball 63 yards for the third touchdown. Senior end Dan Buzauskas broke into the open down the middle to collar a Kokinda pass on the 57-yard scoring play.

Gonya's kick was blocked and the Redskins had a 20-0 lead after only nine minutes and 59 seconds of play. That ended Redskin scoring until the fourth quarter when they rebounded from the lone Perrysburg tally. The penalty tiag was the most effective defense against the Officials assessed 10 penalties for 110 yards against the visitors. This nearly matched the 117-yard rushing offensive of the home team Yellow Jackets. Port Clinton defenders managed to rise to the occasion twice in the first half to halt Perrysburg threats which had moved inside the Redskin 20-yard line.

Clock ran out on the first half with Port Clinton on the Perrysburg 15-yard line after a 49-yard pass from Kokinda to sophomore end Lee Home. Swift feet and accurate arm of little (5-8, 149 pounds) Perrysburg quarterback Jake Sweede managed to give Redskin defense third quarter problems. Combining with the pass reception ability of 5-3 halfback Wendell Seiler, Sweede directed a 66-yard touchdown drive to open the second half. Sweede proved to be a rollout threat and had Redskin linebackers and defensive secondary off-balance on the drive. On the drive Sweede completed six of seven passes for 49 yards.

Four of those passes for 36 yards were in the left flat to Seiler, including the final two yards for the touchdown. A pass attempt failed to add the extra points. Perrysburg perfectly executed an onside kick to retain possession after its only touchdown. Yellow Jackets managed one first down before Port Clinton defense stiffened and took over the ball at its own 28-yard line. Sweede, who had been so successful minutes before on the scoring drive saw four passing efforts go for zero yardage.

He was forced to run and stopped at the line of scrimmage on first down, has a third down screen pass completion gain no yardage and threw two in-completions. At this point fleet halfback Gary Chance became the Port Clinton workhorse. He carried the ball 14 times for 58 yards, all in the second half. Two holding penalties set back what appeared to be another Port Clinton touchdown drive. Next possession the Redskins moved 56 yards in seven rushing plays for final touchdown.

Chance carried five times for 29 yards in that drive. He lunged behind a charging line to squeeze in from the three-yard line for the tally. Gonya's kick was good, for the final 27-6 score. The game ended with Port Clinton again on the Perrysburg 17-yard line and full reserve team in action. Port Clinton put on an offensive show with 401 total yards to only 174 for Perrysburg.

Kokinda's long-range tosses brought 136 yards passing on only five completions. Redskins added 265 yards on the ground.
