James Vaughan, a boy, was killed by a Wabash train at Lafayette Saturday. The boy was leaping on the train to steal a ride. The Wabash ticket ofJicje at Huntington was robbed last week, of $25 in cash. Detective Ballard, of the Wabash service, went to Huntington Saturday and arrested David Cushman, alias "crummy Dave" and the fellow confessed the. crime. He was held for trial. Mr.

Bob Hamilton, an old engineeron the Wabash, has been pulled off and may be discharged for leaving Williams, port a few days ago with train 15, when he had an order to remain at that station until a gravel train east bound had arrived. A collision was narrowly averted and both Hamilton and Conductor Hurlburt were suspended, bnt the latter will le reinstated. This is bad weather for political rallies. Mr. J.

H. Bass has retained from St. Louis. The republicans are going to get up a big rally. Mr.

The funeral of Mrs. Caroline Neuhaus, this morning, as very largely attended. The servioes at St. Mary's church were very impressive and indeed a tribute to the deceased. Railroad men and their families are especially invited to attend the railroad cottage meeting to morrow evening at the home of Mr.

E. K. Bush, 74 Douglas avenue, at 7 :30 o'clock, standard time. Drunkenness, fights and rowdyism scandalized the city yesterday. If the officers and people who sell liquor think that this sort of conduct will be tolerated they mistake the feeling of the law abiding people of Fort Wayne.

The following novel wager has been agreed upon between Harry Snyder and Ed. Shellaberger, employes at Olds' agon works, on the result of the coming presidential election: In the event of the election of Cleveland, Shellaberger will, in a gaily decorated wheel barrow, trundle Snyder from the south depot to the court house. If Harrison is elected Snyder will do the trundling. McKee Rankin, with an "excellent company, will present the "Runaway Wife" and the "Danites" at the Temple Tuesday and Wednesday. It is said that Mr.

Rankin has created in the "Runaway Wife" a part that is on an equal with his former creations. such be a fact his reputation as one of the best actors in America can no longer be doubted. In the "Danites," Rankin stands without criticism. Seats are now on side. The Lutheran Synod in session at North Manchester, lected C.

Jimmie Doyle was first on the scene and rescued the girl from the un holy embrace of two young ruffians, only to be knocked down by one of them. Her name is Effie Stacy, and her home, if such it can be called, is on Fairfield avenue. Her step mother has been cruel to her and has driven her from home, and without even a protest from her drunken father. The poor creature is seventeen years of age, and not very bright. Officer Riehter brought young Devany to time, and ho will have to answer the serious charge. The evidence against him in positive and it will go hard with him and his oompanion when caught.

It will take a large sum of money nearly three quarters of a million of dollars.

The property will have to be londed for a large part of this. In order to sell such bonds they say that the ordinance must not contain unreasonable restrictions, if it doc capital will not take the risk. Considerable inducement must be offered. The meetings com' nienoe promptly at 4:30 o'clock and last for just one hour, and always result in profit to those attending.

The servioe yesterday was conducted by Rev. J. C. Cook, the pastor of the Trinity M. E.

church, and his talk upon the occasion was an interesting one. He spoke upon the subject, "Godliness is Profitable," and pictured, in an elo queat profit in a worldly and spiritually way derived from leading a Christian life. His remarks were practical, and followed as he was by several members of the association in brief experiences, the truths he sought to teach were sent home to his hearers with a force that will result in bearing fruit for the cause he champions, the religion of Christ. News now comes that he was discovered in a Kansas town some days ago in an intoxicated state and because he would not tell where he got the liquor in that prophibition stronghold, he was placed on a flat car and shipped off on an out going train.

The lads hesitated insultingly and one of them made at Mr. Touslee with an axe. He was disarmed and left the place, only to return an hour later with seven or eight companions, and at once the ruffians began storming the house with stones, bricks and about everything they could pick up.

Windows were smashed in, the household furniture broken, and so much damage inflicted that Mr. Touslee had to face the hoodlums, but his appearance was hailed by one of the lads, who pointed a pistol at him, while the others continued their assault. Officers Frank Rohle and Geo. Swain happened along and rushing in arrested four of the boys Ernest Brooks, Ben Krock, Ed Smith and Frank Spidel all of good families. Brooks and Spidel acknowledged their guilt to the mayor this morning, but Smith and Krock pleaded not guilty and Will have a trial later.
