Green will begin serving in February with a term ending Jan. 2, 2011. "Curtis Green understands the importance of the job of the county coroner," Doyle said. "His background as chief deputy coroner will help him to understand the complexities of the office and work well with other county departments." Green has been employed as a deputy coroner in Manitowoc County since May 2006 and has served as acting coroner since Kakatsch's departure. Green received his associate degree in police science from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 1984 Before joining the coroner's office, he was president of a nonemergency transport company for the elderly and disabled that operated in four counties.

Green is a nationally registered paramedic, a volunteer first responder with the St Nazianz Fire and Rescue squad and is a vocal proponent of organ procurement He and his four daughters live in the town of Eaton. "I look forward to continuing the progress and professionalism of this office that Deb Kakatsch worked so hard for," Green said "She was a great mentor and her wealth of knowledge will be missed I appreciate that the governor is providing me with the opportunity to serve the people of Manitowoc County in this vital role." 10-5 Oshkoah I -v (on 5 Bai TilidiMia Manitowoc ed cooperation" with authorities, and hired an attorney when authorities began searching his property, Hermann said. Neuser declined comment Tuesday when contacted by the Herald Times Reporter. Some of the evidence found at the South Parkview Road farm was sent to the state Crime Laboratory, but analysis of the items was inconclusive, Hermann said. He would not elaborate on the evidence that was collected at the farm.

"It's more difficult with time," Hermann said about the nearly 20-year lapse. "But cases are solved all the time with new information and technology We're still looking for more evidence and more information." Hermann said the case remains a high priority Manitowoc County Sheriff's inspector Gregg Schetter said investigators review the case "weekly if not every day," following leads and talking to anybody they feel might shed some light on Spaeth-Duvall's whereabouts. Schetter said there haven't been any tips recently Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department at (920) 683-4200. Kevin Braley: (920) 686-2105 or kbraleyhtmews.com Spaeth-Duvall has been missing since 1988 BY KEVIN BRALEY Herald Times Reporter MANITOWOC The likelihood that a woman missing since October 1988 is alive is "very slim," according to Manitowoc County Sheriff Robert Hermann. Hermann said Tuesday that the Social Security number for Cheryl Spaeth-Duvall has not been used to obtain employment, credit cards, housing or utilities since before she went missing in October 1988.

Spaeth-Duvall was 38 when she was reported missing, but the case came to a halt when investigators received few leads, Hermann said. The cold case was reopened in 2006 when a family member asked the department to revisit the Spaeth-Duvall's disappearance. Investigators in January 2007 scoured two properties owned by John M. Neuser of Whitelaw. Spaeth-Duvall was living with Neuser at his dairy farm on South Parkview Road before she went missing.

Neuser moved in 2006 to a home on U.S. 10 in the town of Cato, Hermann said. Hermann said Neuser is not a suspect and has not been charged with any crime. After leaving the school resource office, Siedschlag picked up a "floor caution" cone that was in the main hallway, and threw the cone, authorities said.

At the time, the main floor hallway was filled with students going to and from classes. When officials tried to control Siedschlag, he allegedly struck Bennett in the face and struck principal Keith Shaw in the ribs, authorities said. Siedschlag was arrested outside of the school and transported to jail, police said. Bennett was treated at a health clinic for tenderness to his nose and released. Shaw refused medical treatment Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.

Steven Siedschlag of Manitowoc also was ordered to have no contact with Lincoln High School personnel. Siedschlag is scheduled for an initial appearance at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, in Manitowoc County Circuit Court.

Siedschlag is facing felony charges of battery to a peace officer and battery to a school district employee. He also faces a disorderly conduct charge, according to Manitowoc police. Authorities said the incident was resolved quickly and students were not in danger at any time. At 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Manitowoc school resource officer John Bennett issued Siedschlag a city ordinance State, national milk production surges in Dec.

BY NATHAN PHELPS Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers The state's milk production continued to increase in December, according to a report released Tuesday Wisconsin milk production totaled 2.01 billion pounds last month, up 26 million pounds from a year ago. Nationwide, production in the 23 major milk-producing states grew by 3 percent from the same time in 2006, while the number of milk cows increased to 8.83 million head. Cow numbers are up 14,000 from November and 107,000 more than December 2006, according to the report from the Wisconsin Field Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Sesvice. Cow numbers and milk production have been on the rise in recent months, and dairy producers had favorable prices in 2007, which helped offset increased input costs and bills accrued in previous seasons when prices weren't as strong. But prices are expected to soften this year in the face of increased production and cow numbers.

Bob Cropp of the University of Wisconsin Cooperative Extension projects increased production to push milk prices lower in 2008. "Lower prices are forecasted for 2008, perhaps averaging about $2 lower," Cropp wrote in his January Dairy Situation Outlook.
