Thla morning Judge Aiken laaued an order, returnable forthwith, agalntt Mary Krock, mother of the child; John Krock, Mary Krock'a father, and there, to come into court and ahow cauae why they should not be punlahed for contempt. Last year the mother secured a divorce in. an Ohio court and was awarded the.

custody of the child, which, meantime had been living with her grandmother, Elizabeth Jensen, of this city. Whenthe mother called for the child its delivery wae refused and then the mother commenced habeas corpus proceedings. The court awarded her temporary custody of the little one. who refused to' accompany her mother and fought vigorouely in the court room, in the court bouse and on the street. It was set up that the mother was of Immoral character and not a fit person to have custody of the little girl, and on a second hearing Judge Aiken remanded the child to the.

custody of her mother and grandfather, the latter John Krock, until August 1, when it was. to be delivered to the custody of St. Vincent's Catholic, Orphans' home to remain until final disposition of the caae was made, which disposition was to be contingent upon an investigation of the mother's fitness to control and rear her offrpring. When the last order of the court was sought to be enforced it was found that both the mother and; the chdld were miss ing. Judge Aiken thereupon continued the answer to the writ until August 15. MUCH BUSINESS DISPOSED OF. Judge. Aiken, who has been up nt Lake George for a week or two trying to keep the fish from trampling down the grass in bis front yard, returned to ithe city last eveplng and this morning sat in the supe rior court room and disposed of quite a miscellaneous grind of business.

There were motions and consequent rulings, answers to complaints, paragraphs and demurrers and not a few cases were actually disposed of. In the case of Josephine Boehnj vs. Baniett M. Eoeiim, a decree Of divorce was granted to the plaintiff. The coniplalnt alleged continued cruelty and hahltUal drunkenness.

The parties had teen married nearly thirty years and live in the Eighth ward. Martha Duber was granted a divorce from Albert Duber. The divorce was by publication and was uncontested, the plaintiff showing that she hnd.been abandoned for a period erceeding five years, during wlilcn, the husband had not contrlh; uted to her support. In the civil suit of John Poinsett vs. Julius Erne et al.

on notes a Judgment rendered plaintiff, in the sum of $343.42. The principal defendant is now in the penitentiary and in consequent the sureties are holden for the amount, of the judgment. In the action of Catherine Poz vs. Samuel Muster et al. Judgment wus for the plaintiff to quiet title and cancel old mortgages on the property in dispute.

In the 'action of the Old National bank vs. Fred W. Sihler, the commis sioner, S. L. Morris, appointed to sell certain stocks belonging to the defendant, today" submitted his report lie reported that he had sold the stocks in litigation, tot the sum of Which, report, was accepted and the commissioner was discharged; ANOTHER CONTEMPT CASE.
