PAGE 6A, THE MAGEE COURIERSIMPSON COUNTY NEWS, THURSDAY, MAY 2003 Obituaries Nancy Kaye Benstem dren, Brad Smith, Christy Magee Morgan, Lacey Rose and Laura Leigh Smith; great grandchildren, Morgan Claire and Chase Carpenter Rose; two sisters, Irene Hodges of Brookhaven and Mary Louise McLeod of Mendenhall; and a special devoted friend, Laurec Hayes. He1 was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Smith, Sr. and Delia Howell Smith; an infant son, Tommy Randal Smith; and five siblings, James, Earl and Vancp Stpitli, Ruby Jones and Bessie Langston. Nancy Kaye Benstem, age 49, a salesperson, died of cancer April 18, 2003 at her Pearl residence. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Smith County.

A private memorial service was held in Biloxi on April 26. Survivors include her husband, Donald C. Benstem of Pearl; daughters, Domini Benstem of Pearl and Jade Harris of Brandon; mother, Mary Nell Hall of Magee; sister, Joyce Walker of Magee; t'vo nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Chiles B. Hall.

Robert Ed Walker i Er nest Bridges Robert Ed Walker, 70, a farmer, of Magee died April 26, 2003 at Forrest jeneral Hospital. He was a member of Eastsidc Baptist Church and of the church's Brotherhood. Services were conducted April 28 from Mims Mitchell Funeral Home's chapel in Magee. Interment was in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. Survivors arc three brothers, James Walker of Knoxville, Thomas Walker of Mendenhall and George Walker of Hattiesburg; five sisters, Clara McNair of Oakridge, Ruth Hallie Heat of Springs, S.C, Ann Marie Roberts of Clinton, Hazel Reese of Magee and Nell Sheppard of Lucedale; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie W. and I lallie Ware Walker. Burial was in Magee City Cemetery. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and of the ChryClub.

Survivors are her husband, Charles Kelly Hawkins; son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Betty Hawkins of White House, daughter and son-in-law, Kay and James Fortenberry of Magee; father, Walter Bynum; brother, Harold Bynum of Magee; sisters, Rene Rogers of Brandon, Brenda Kennedy of Mendcnhall, Jean Bratcher and Carol Mc Williams, both of Magee; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Jennie Warren Bynum. James Edward Jones James Edward Jones, age 6 1 of Liberty, S.C., died at his residence on April 28, 2003. Services will be conducted from the McDougald Funeral Home chapel in Anderson, S. C.

on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m., with burial in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery, Anderson, S.C. The family will receive friends at the McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, May 1, from 6 until 8 p.m. Mr. Jones was born in Magee. He was owner and operator of Wood Masters.

He served in the U. S. Air force and attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Powdersville, S. C.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Smith Jones of Liberty, S.C; sons, Matthew Jones of Greenville, S.C. and Tim Jones of Anderson, S. daughter, Deborah Jones of Liberty, S.C; two sisters, Vera Jones and Vema Shows, both of Mendenhall; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Jones. William Henry Smith Jr.

William Henry Smith 93, a merchant, died April 27, 2003, at his D'Lo residence. Funeral services were held April 29 at D'Lo Baptist Church with burial following in D'Lo Cemetery. Mr. Smith served in the Navy during World War II in the rebuilding efforts of the bombed Pearl Harbor naval fleet. Because of his service to his country and his unselfish dedication to his community, Mr.

Smith was asked to serve as the Grand Marshal of the 2000 Millennium Celebration. He was a deacon of the D'Lo Baptist Church and a member of the D'Lo Masons. Funeral services were held April 26 at New Zion M.B. Church in Pinola with interment in the church cemetery. Wilburn Buckley Wilburn Buckley, 89, of New Hebron died at Lawrence County Hospital on April 24, 2003. Services were conducted from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on April 27, with burial following in the church cemetery. Rev.

Lloyd Wilson officiated. Pallbearers were Roger O'Neal, Ronnie Lane, Joseph Lane, Chris Lane, Scott Taylor and Gerald Taylor. Mr. Buckley was a native of Simpson County, the son of Mclvin Wilburn Buckley and Fannie Little Buckley. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and a farmer.

He is survived by three daughters, Nora O'Neal of Cantonment, Linda Nelson of Texarkana, Ark. and Donna Taylor of New Hebron; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Buckley, in 1998. J. C.

Dillon J. C. Dillon, 63, sheriff of Simpson County, died at his Magee residence on April 22, 2003. Funeral services were conducted April 25 from First Baptist Church of Mendcnhall after the body had lain in state at the Simpson County Courthouse. Burial was in Mendcnhall City Cemetery.

Sheriff Dillon was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in the Mississippi Highway Patrol. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Magee. He is survived by his wife, Dannelle Johnson Dillon; two daughters, Angela Craft of Florence and Xemenia Dillon of Magee; a son Bobby Dillon of Mendcnhall; a brother, Larry Dillon of Puckett; and four grandchildren. Charles Jason Edwards Charles Jason Edwards, 32, a machinist, of D'Lo died April 25, 2003.

Funeral services were conducted April 28 from Pleasant Valley Baptist Church with burial in D'Lo City Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Angie Lott Edwards; son, Preston Jay Edwards of D'Lo; daughter. Autumn Alexa Edwards of D'Lo; parents, Charles P. and Sybil Coor Edwards; sisters, Jennifer Bairfield of Ruth and Julie Edwards of Florence; paternal grandparents, Preston and Gladys Edwards of Canton, and maternal grandmother, Bobbie Coor of D'Lo. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harry Coor.

Eva Glancy Eva H. Glancy, age 74, died at her Taylorsville residence on April 25, 2003. She attended Taylorsville United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held April 27 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Taylorsville with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Taylorsville.

Survivors include her husband. Jack Glancy; son, Earnest Hargon of Taylorsville; brothers, Howard Heflin of Carthage and John Heflin of Vider, Texas; sister, Evie Moss of Lake Jackson, Texas; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister. Dovie Sullivan Hall Dovie Sullivan Hall, 86, a homemakcr, died April 26, 2003 at her Mt. Olive residence.

She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church of Mt. Olive. Services were conducted on April 28 from Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Mt. Olive. She is survived by her husband, Lois Bobbie Hall; a son, Kenneth Ray Hall of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Diane Hall of Mt.
