Thompson, 76, retired cook, of Magee, died Wednesday, April 23, 1997 of heart failure at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Services were 2 p.m., Friday, April 25, 1997 at Mims Mitchell Chapel Funeral Home in Magee with burial in Siloam Baptist Church in Simpson County. Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Simpson County and a member of Siloam Baptist Church. Survivors include 2 sons: Mike Thompson Laurel, Don Thompson Magee; daughter-in-law: Wanda Thompson Laurel; 2 grandchildren: Wayne and Keith Thompson Laurel. BONNIE CANOY MCLENDON Bonnie Canoy McClendon, 86, homemaker, of Greenville died Hope Primitive Cemetery in Magee. Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Thames was a native of Montgomery City in Mississippi and a member of Coat Baptist Church. Survivors include husband: Cloyd Thames Magee; 2 daughters: Lynn Thames Laurel, Carol Hankins Magee; sister: Sarah Rushing Memphis, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren: Jonathan Hankins, Joshua Hankins and Harley Hankins. MR. ERNEST TANNEHILL Mr.

Ernest Tannehill, 84, retired banker State Bank Trust Co. Seminary Branch in'Seminary, died Monday. April 21, 997 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Services were 10 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 1997 at Billy M. King Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins with burial in Seminary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Rev. Frank Bishop, Rev. Ray Strebeck and Rev. Tony Bagley officiated the ceremony. Billy M.

King Colonial Chapel of Collins handled the arrangements. Mr. Tannehill was a member of the American Legion Post 1 83 and Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the CC Camp. He was also a member of the Seminary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include wife: Annie Eaton Tannehill Seminary; daughter: Mary Ann Tannehill Moore Harrisville; 3 brothers: J.C. Tannehill Moore and Bobby Tannehill both of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Larry Tannehill Springhill, Louisiana; sister: Mary Lou Green -Gautier; 2 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ty Hitt, John Tannehill, III, Gary Green, Gaithen Tannehill, David Tannehill, Ronnie Tannehill, Tommy Walters, Robert Tannehill. In lieu of flowers: Donation Seminary Baptist Church Building Fund. MRS.

VYRENA VARNER Funeral services were held Friday, April 25, at Corinth Baptist Church for Mrs. Vyrena Varner, 86, who died Wednesday of heart failure at Magee General hospital. Mrs. Varner operated a country store she inherited from her father on Highway 28 for almost 20 years. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church her whole life and taught in the Junior Department for more than 35 years.

She and her husband of more than 70 years were honored by their church for their service and dedication on Old Fashioned Day in 1995. "She was really amazing," her daughter Doris recalls. "When she was 75 years old, she broke her ankle when the bike she was riding hit some loose gravel." Doris described her mother as someone who really loved people. "She wasn't famous by worldly standards, but she rated high by God's standards." Survivors include her husband, Walter Varner of Magee; Doris Tullos and Charles Varner of Magee; sisters, Mrs. Earlene Johnson of Zachary, Louisiana, and Mrs.

Gertrude Diamond of Vero Beach, Florida; brothers, Dr. R.A. Tullos of Magee and J.L. Tullos of Madison; cousin, George M. Walker of Madison; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for the funeral service were Mike Varner, Keith Varner, Stan Johnson, Steve Johnson, Vernon Tullos and Jerome Tullos. IONA CRAFT Iona Craft, 86, housewife of Magee, died April 25, 1997 of liver failure at Magee General Hospital. Services were 3 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 1997 at Dry Creek Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Mims Mitchell Funeral Home of Magee handled the arrangements. Mrs.

Craft was a member of Simpson County and a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include sons-in-law: Robert Menefee Jackson, Billy Joe Butler Magee; 2 daughters: Linda Butler Magee, Louise Menefee Jackson; daughter-in-law: Virginia Craft Magee; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Craft was preceded in death by her husband, Nevil Craft, and son, Homer Craft. (Continued on Page 7A) Tuesday, April 22, 1997 of heart failure at her residence in Greenville.

Services were 10 a.m., Thursday, April 24, 1997 at Mortimer Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Stonewall Cemetery in Mendenhall. Rev. Stephen Ramsey officiated the ceremony. Mortimer in Greenville handled the ceremony. Mrs.

McClendon was born January 23, 1911 in Jefferson Davis County, the daughter of the late Petty Monroe Canoy and Betty Berry Canoy. She received her education in New Hebron and later moved to Greenville where she had been a resident for over 60 years. She was married to the late Henry McClendon for 40 years. She was a charter member of Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include 1 son: Henry Dale McClendon (Agnes) -Greenville; 2 daughters: Beulah Elizabeth Wylie (Runnels) and Benny Loree Ray (Shelton) both of Greenville; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

ROBERT G. SHOWS, SR. Robert G. Shows, 58, maintenance man, of Mendenhall, died Monday, April 21, 1997 of heart failure at Magee General Hospital. Services were 2 p.m., Friday, April 25, 1 997 at Rials Creek United Methodist Church in Mendenhall with burial in church cemetery.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee handled the arrangements. Mr. Shows was a native of Alabama and a member of Rials Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors include wife: Mary Shows Mendenhall; 3 sons: Robert Shows, Jr. and James Thomas Shows both of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Robert Vernis Shows Mendenhall; step-son: Daniel Walker -Magee; 3 daughters: Michelle Shows, Diane Shows and Lois Shows all of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; 2 step-daughters: Sharon Keys and Martha Phillips both of Mendenhall; brother: James Shows -Worthington, Minnesota; sister: Vera Jeanette Snipes Mendenhall; 8 grandchildren.

NANCY LOUISE THAMES Nancy Louise Thames, 57, homemaker, of Mt. Olive, died Monday, April 21,1 997 of a heart attack at Magee General Hospital.
